I just bought a Kimber Rapide Black Ice in 9mm a few minutes ago. This one was lightly used. The pics from the seller are below. $1350 after taxes and shipping. I could have bought a new Scorpius for $1400 but part of the equation was that the Rapide "Black Ice" is no longer in production. Don't know if it will return or not. The Black Ice 10mm was the one that got me looking at Kimber in the first place. If it runs like the Rapide Dawn, I will be happy with it.

I hate to say this but ammo cost had something to do with this one too. I went into Scheels about an hour ago and 230gr Berry's 45 bullets were $190/1K (pre-tax) Berry's site was exactly the same price. The .40 cal bullets weren't any cheaper than 45s. 115gr 9mm were $120/1K and $40/250. What I needed was going to cost $724 after taxes. I ended up ordering Xtreme copper plated bullets from Cabelas, shipped to my door was $531 for 1,500 9mm (115gr) and 2,500 45acp (200gr).

I saw one for sale on Jason's guns a day or two ago. They were asking $2,000 and hyped the rarity of it.

Pretty pistol, though.

According to the Kimber rep I spoke with, production was suspended, not completely discontinued. Someone in the Kimber forum said the first couple mags, the black coating started coming off the feed ramp causing feed issues. She used a stick to remove the rest off the ramp and it was fine after that. Probably had something to do with it. I just assumed strip it all off the barrel. Would look better that way but I don’t know what steel is under it. A stainless barrel might be in its future.
