Newly released satellite images show a Russian military buildup at Finland's border, two weeks after former Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev suggested that Sweden and Finland could be in the Kremlin's crosshairs for joining NATO.

The pictures from the earth imaging company Planet Labs PBC show more combat vehicles and expansions to military infrastructure.

"If the Russians follow their current plans, there can be tens of thousands new soldiers near the borders of Norway, Finland and the Baltic countries in the coming years," Emil Kastehelmi, a Finnish military analyst, told Newsweek.

Lt. Gen. Vesa Virtanen, Finland's deputy chief of defense, last month warned that Russia's actions on the border suggested the Kremlin was "deliberately testing NATO's unity to see if it will trigger Article 5 — the alliance's collective defense clause."

Michael Claesson, Sweden's chief of defense, told SVT that when his country applied to join NATO, "Russia said it would take military-technical measures — here I see a direct connection, that's what they are doing."

Pretty sure Finland told Russia what's what many years ago. Now a NATO partner things will not go so well for Russia. I think that dope over there is trying to start WWIII and the left will blame Trump.

"He had audacity," Many American historians evaluation of General Robert E. Lee as they described his ability to succeed and stymie his foes on the battlefield.

Of course, if Lee had been facing Grant, Sherman or Thomas in those early battles, the outcomes could have been quite different for Lee.

"Putin embarrasses God", as Victor Hugo remarked about Napoleon. "Something" may have to be done about him. And it should have been done some time ago, internally by Russians, themselves,

One little egotistical Mook borrowing pages from Stalin on how to intimidate morons and hold a entire country in his grip of oppression. One very brave or certifiable crazy hitman and "that" problem solved.
Yup and he had the perfect patsy, just like Stalin did. Stalin used the wishy-washy Roosevelt to get everything he wanted. We suffer with the results to this day.

Then, along comes Biden with oatmeal for brains and Putin suddenly jumps on Ukraine which he has wanted for many years. He expected to only require a month to get that job done and now we're several years into it. An Biden never could talk to Putin into backing the hell off.

Finland doesn't scare easily at all. If that situation develops into shooting, it won't go well for Russia.

Finland is a NATO member. NATO says, "an attack on one is an attack on all". Putin is betting that NATO is a paper tiger. He knows Trump doesn't want to go to war. He knows Europe, for the mest part, is unprepared for war. Putin's Russia is severely drawn down both militarially and economically by his Ukraine misadventure. He is watching NATO's reaction before he continues. Its HUGE gamble.

He has taken a page out of Trump's "The Art Of The Deal".

If Putin does go active in prosecuting a conventional incursion against Finland, and he causes NATO to activate and react to his incursion, I believe NATO forces could parry and resist to where Russian conventional forces would be diminished to the point of near exhaustion. I don't know that his military would allow him to escalate to the next level which is nuclear. I just don't think their military or any part of their government will allow Putin to cause Russia to commit suicide for his ego.

There are too many variables and European weaknesses to really predict much at this point in time. But Ukraine has done Putin and Russia a lot of damage for Putin to pull a Hitler and start another war and try to wage them on two fronts.

Not one drop of American blood for any of them. There are no good guys there. Not Putin, welfare queen lil Z, Macron or the rest of the 4th Reich. Well past time to get out of NATO and while we are at it get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

I would have thought that Vlad would have had some sort of terminal medical issue by now. His High Command has to know he’s insane and is going to get them all killed...

Unless he is making some sort of co-ordinated move with China. Russia has lost over 500,000 troops in Ukraine. I don’t know how much equipment and weapons. Can we afford to supply Finland ? Experts say we have about 8 days of weapons if we had to fight China. Our 11 aircraft carriers could be gone in just a few hours.
