I have a relative (who is over 21, a US citizen, not a felony and legally allowed to own and/or buy a gun etc. etc.) in SE Missouri who has recently had a bit of a scare, and now would like to buy a handgun (typical story - I know... So shocking... It's like she lives in SE Missouri or something? Oh wait...)
I WILL NOT BE BUYING THE GUN ON HER BEHALF - I will simply find a seller I believe is suitable/genuine, and put said seller in direct contact with my relative, whom I guarantee is very serious about buying.
I'm looking for a used Hi-Point handgun in 9mm or .40 S&W, preferably one of their larger models, and mainly seeking a local seller for obvious reasons.
She was going to buy a new one from the local store, but convinced her to give me a chance to see if there were any used guns on the market, because I know there are a lot of Hi-Point owners out there who have either moved on to something else, or weren't very happy with the gun to begin with.
She is not comfortable shopping for guns herself, because she has no experience with guns (she plans on doing the CCW permit course after obtaining a weapon though, so don't worry guys), and I am extremely confident that the gun will most likely end up gathering dust in her nightstand, which is another very good reason why I don't think she needs to be spending 150+ dollars on a new one.
Another reason why I think it would be bad to buy a new one, is because I'm aware that Hi-Points pistols, while fair in quality, need breaking in before they start feeding reliably - and knowing that she will not get this done, I think it best to get a used one.
In fact, one that has already been to the factory would be a plus!
She is very adamant about wanting the Hi-Point, despite the fact that I personally recommended a revolver for her.
She is very enamored with the company, due to their "All American" and super warranty policies.
I can't possibly imagine that anyone would travel a far distance to sell a used Hi-Point - and I can't imagine buying a used Hi-Point and paying to have it shipped, could reasonably be cheaper than buying a new one - so I guess I'm realistically looking for a local seller, but if you happen to be willing to work with me on the price, let me know.
