town was having a festival and i bought a few raffle tickets.....i was really wanting to win a 1911, citouri, or a henry big boy..........

what i won instead is a bushmaster "minimalist" flat top ar15...........my daughter is happy as she knows she will get it eventually......she has already warned me not to sell or trade it off....

5.56........one mag, no sights......way more fore end and rail than i care for.......but what the heck....it was a raffle prize.......

the trap of such an ar......i know i am going to accessorize it to my specs before she eventually gets it.

so.....will have to add sights.......thinking magpul MBUS front and back
one mag is sacrilegious........so again magpul pmag m3.........a couple of 20 rounders. i am not a dedicated ar man and some net research and reviews indicate magpul has a decent line of stuff.

a simple sling

the stock does not instill confidence........but i am still on the fence about that.

i probably should just leave it in the box........but heck, i might as well shoot it for a while.

Congratulations on the new addition!

I would first stock up on 30 round mags. With the left on a warpath, >10 round magazines may end up on the chopping block. After that, add iron sights/red-dot/scope to make it functional at the range. Then hold off on everything else until money allows.
Most excellent!
Congrats but that thing sure does look scary......
Congrats, that would probably be the only way that I would possess an AR if I had one

You bought an AR ????? Nah, I won it
Nice! Nothing like making your children happy!
Congrats on the win. :machinegun:
Congrats! You’ll like shooting that. It’s a good base for a coyote gun for sure. Girls really like the AR platform because of the accuracy and low recoil. Enjoy it!
It sure feels great to win a raffle or a contest.
Looks like the basis for a nice rifle.
Congrats!
Great that you have a kid that wants that rifle.
If you get the BUIs, get the rollover BUI's so that you don't have to detach the scope/sight to use 'em.
And have fun!

--Wag--
Just set it up for your kid the way she wants it an take HER out to shoot it and train her to take care of it.

Is it that you don't want one or you can't afford one? If you build one yourself at home, no one will know you have it.

I've seen them for as little as $369.00, but if you build at home it will cost a little more as individual parts or kits are not as reasonable. $500.00 on average for a dependable accurate rifle.

Kinda like cars--Lincoln or Volkswagen---choice by finances or comfort.--Pick your poison.
Grats! I wish I had an AR-15 :cryin:

Kobs is in Canada so i doubt if building one under the radar is an option.....BUT he can legally buy a SBR up there with no special restrictions except for the normal hoops they have to jump through for any other gun. I would be on that like white on rice!

^^^ Yeah it falls into the restricted category, just like any handgun although an AR is a long gun (it's a special dangerous gun) and SBR's are just like any other handgun up here. Less than 18 inch= restricted so range only toy

Nope, anything without a serial # is prohibited

There's about 100 different ways to make a 12 gauge too and they're all only for criminals lol
My only question is did you have to undergo a background check or did you use the raffle loophole?

You ever think about defecting to VT?
