Wisconsin Honoring Florida Update!!

If you are unaware of how Wisconsin Stated they would honor a Florida permit I won’t go into the particulars but they have posted an update. Now Wisconsin is stating the following on how they will honor a FL License:

Florida license ISSUED OR RENEWED TO NON-FLORIDA RESIDENTS ON OR AFTER 08/01/2013.

You can see it at https://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/conceal-carry/reciprocity Handgunlaw.us is not aware of WHY this change was made and why it is only FL Licenses issued to Non-Residents that will be honored.

You gotta ask Wisconsin. All Gary does is report CCW law changes.
So, my FL resident license is not honored?
I saw that too. Also, there's this confusing message from a non-official site:

Florida license ISSUED OR RENEWED ON OR AFTER 08/01/2013. Wisconsin DOES NOT recognize Florida licenses issued with the prefixes of W, WJ, WR, WX or WY.
And a post at this unofficial site:

I am hearing that Florida Licenses with the prefix W, WJ, WR, WX or WY are licenses that are issued to civilians. Looks like the only Florida license that Wisconsin will honor is a license issued to Law Enforcement Officers or other groups association with security.
I don't see any Florida prefix restrictions in the Wisconsin penal code.

It's confusing. :mad2:

This is what WI DOJ first posted a few weeks ago on their site https://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/conceal-carry/reciprocity on honoring a FL License. Then they removed that and Posted: Florida license ISSUED OR RENEWED TO NON-FLORIDA RESIDENTS ON OR AFTER 08/01/2013.

Why they changed the wording is unknown as no one in authority in WI has stated why, The wording is very plain and easy to understand,
WI will only honor a FL permit issued on or after 8/1/13 and the holder of that license can't be a resident of Florida.
Again if you go to the link you will see WI has issues with other states and honoring their Permit/License to Carry than just Florida.

Just seems weird that they will not honor a FL resident CWFL, but they will honor a non-resident one......

I'm guessing that it may have something to do with the fact that FL doesn't honor WI, a little political nonsnese going on. Hence they honor a FL permit it it's held by an out of state resident.
The reason FL will not honor WI is because Wisconsin will not honor all of Florida's permits. Florida statute is very clear, Florida will honor anyones's permit/license to carry if they honor theirs

True, I had forgotten about the Gary.
