A world history lesson...lest we forget.
The quintessential reason why Grandpa carries a gun. Please take time to read this and pay particular
attention to "A Little Gun History" about half way down. Why Carry a Gun? My old Grandpa said to me,
"Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and
usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin'."

Why carry?
For the same reason I had car insurance before it was required by law.
For the same reason I have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen.
For the same reason I carry a spare tire, a couple of gallons of water, and 2 cans of Fix-A-Flat in my trunk.
For the same reason I have health insurance, and other coverages for my home and appliances.
For the same reason - oh heck, you get the idea.
The answer is BECAUSE.

People are AFRAID to defend themselves mainly for legal reasons. I still and always will think it is better to be judged by 12 rather than be carried by 6 and still above ground, I'm good and will persevere.I can overcome financial ruin and most anything else, but I can't be resurrected.I wouldn't take offense, necessarily, but it is a bit of a mystery why the question comes up.
