Since I could only pick one...I had to go with Colt. Always has been a good gun for me.

I also have Springfield Armory and Para Ordnance....love them both as well.

Taurus. For the mere fact that it's the only one in my meager arsenal.

Darn, I forgot to put Smith into that poll. Sorry folks, just add it in the other column.

Gosh, I couldn't pick three - Springfield, Colt and RIA. I like them all but had to go with the RIA in a coin toss.

I voted Springfield but, I like them all. I do prefer the traditional ones, short beaver tails, fixed sights etc.

Give me one of them purdy Kimber Raptors any day over the others. It will out-shoot the rest too.

Second choice would be the older Colts.

The questions keep getting harder.
My head is starting to hurt.
O.K. Kimber.

I am a 1911 builder. And as such, my favorite frames and slides are by far Caspian. When the budget won't allow for those, Essex is a pretty good second choice (now that they fixed the QC problems).

For off the shelf, out of the box, straight up no frills mil-spec shooter, gotta be the Springfield.
