What Gun Owners of America is telling members to email to Congress as follows:
"While Congress holds its gun control hearing in an anti-gun echo chamber, I want you to hear what American voters truly believe about our Second Amendment rights.
Gun Owners of America recently surveyed 17,012 American voters to hear what we had to say about gun control. Below are the results:
* Over 95% opposed Red Flag laws
* 98% would NOT vote to re-elect a legislator next November if he or she voted for a Red Flag law
* 92% would NOT vote to re-elect a legislator next November if he or she voted for Universal Background Checks
* 97% would NOT vote to re-elect a legislator next November if he or she voted for a so-called "assault weapons" ban
* 78% consider themselves a "single-issue voter" when it comes to gun rights
* 95% think that legislators should work to pass Constitutional Carry reciprocity as a real solution to stopping shooters
If you vote for any gun control measure including Red Flag Gun Grabs, expanded background checks, or “assault rifle” bans, you will be attacking our constitutional right to bear arms, attacking our constitutional right to due process, and turning your back on the American voters who trusted you to represent us in the Congress.
And come next election, I, and many of my fellow American citizens will remember whether you voted to uphold the United States Constitution or chose to cower before the anti-gun mob."

GOA must be surveying most of its members in Red states like Texas, Idaho, Arizona, Wyoming and Oklahoma then.I'm sure they'd get a lot of pro-gun responses from their members in the Red counties of California as well. They say they want "expanded" background checks. What more do they want on the checks? Everything is covered on the 4473. Also the checks they use to OK the purchases are already in the government records.

As I expressed in a previous post, I am of the opinion that only law abiding citizens will summit to a background check to obtain a new gun, those people who know they are prohibited from owning a weapon WILL NOT summit to a background check they know may fail. Therefore the background check system is an exercise in futility, because, the people that we want to catch, WILL NOT summit to the check, thus, the check will fail in stooping a would be criminal from obtaining a weapon.
Background checks are like the TSA, something to make us feel safer while in reality does not protect us.

Most if not all mass shooters pass background checks to get their guns with flying colors already. Expanding checks will not do a damn thing to solve shooting issues. I'm not convinced a background check ever saved somebody's life. The police are always too late. The armed citizenry are the first responders.

It's possible they are registering gun owner every time they do a transaction. They aren't supposed to but who knows for sure? One thing that is for sure is they aren't registering the gun you buy. That info is not given to the NICS when called in, all they tell them is "long gun, handgun or other" other is usually a lower but i think others items fall into this category as well. The make, model and serial number are not given when a NICS check is done, it is retained on the 4473 form which stays at the gun shop.
Gun registration is a farce. What about the ones stolen and resold on the streets or all the ghost guns built at home? You can find the original salesperson and the original buyer from the 4473, but that will not find the gun.
