Ken Kohl, the top deputy federal prosecutor in Washington, said Barnett was charged for entering Pelosi’s office,
where he “left a note and removed some of the speaker’s mail.”
Barnett, 60, faces three federal charges:
knowingly entering or remaining in restricted grounds without authority;
violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds;
and theft of public property or records.
If convicted, he faces up to a year in federal prison.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer died Thursday after being injured when supporters of President Donald Trump raided the Capitol building on Wednesday, bringing
the total number of fatalities to five.
Brian D. Sicknick "was injured while physically engaging with protesters" on Wednesday, USCP said in a statement. He returned to his division office and collapsed, then was taken to a local hospital where he died Thursday evening.
"The death of Officer Sicknick will be investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, the USCP, and our federal partners," the USCP said in a statement.
A U.S. Capitol Police officer died after being injured when Trump supporters raided the Capitol building Wednesday, bringing the death toll to five.
