My LGS has one of these… I don’t own a semi-auto shotgun

thinking of it… anyone have any experience with these?

my use would be an occasional outing with it at the trap range (maybe 4-5 times per year)

Well i would look for honest reviews. One of the sales guys at the counter in walmart said they are poor quality. He always tries to reccomend a better brand. A few times a year it should be ok. It is nice looking.

There have been a lot of good guns that have been made in Turkey and from what I have read, Hatfield is an old reliable company.

I found myself in the same position. No semi auto shotguns. That’s why i went ahead with that bullpup. My brother has had a few of their single shots but never a semi auto. I say give it a try. You never know.

I have 870s they use for trap and I just bought that Condor Supreme O/U.

I have two Turkish semiauto’s and both are great. Mine are TriStar ( The US company name ) and I use them for turkeys and geese. Never a hiccup and when I lost my magazine plug, one phone call and it was sent to me in days.

Maybe it will be fine. The guy at walmart may be biased.

When I stopped at the LGS to pick up my SW MP .45 today… I got to handle a Tri Star Viper G2 in bronze… like this one

Building Window Automotive lighting Wood Asphalt

I think that pic is of a 20ga above… but the 12ga I handled was essentially identical

1) I don’t care for high gloss
2) They wanted $650

so…

I wrote a check for the Hatfield ($250) and it will be here soon

Agreed on the high gloss. That’s turned me off on a few.
The high gloss is more of a range gun look and the matte finish is for the field. I have a Tri Star OU 12 ga that I’ve been looking at removing the high gloss epoxy finish. It’s not as difficult as you would think. There are some YouTube videos on it. I wouldn’t do it on a brand new gun but the one I have could use some freshening up. Tri Star sells some models in the matte finish. My Son’s 28 ga OU is matte and it’s gorgeous.

Took a few weeks, but I received the email today from my LGS… the Hatfield SAS 12ga has finally arrived!

I’ll pick it up tomorrow and post some pictures. No range time imminent… my SIL still seriously ill and we are heading to the People‘s Republic of Illinois for a few days to visit.

Broke it down, cleaned and lubed it. Was fairly straight forward.

Came with three chokes… IC, M, F. Put the modified one in to start.

Wow… that 28” barrel feels LONG compared to what I’m used to shooting.

Trigger pull measures about 7.5lbs

LOP measures 14.5”

Rubber decelerator is soft like I prefer

The beast weighs 8 lb.

Now to get it out and blast a few clays!

Well… I’m disenchanted

This Hatfield won’t cycle any of my 12ga target/trap loads (tried 7/8oz of 7.5 shot, 1-1/8oz of 8 shot and 1oz of 8shot)

read up on problems others are having with this shotty and some say I need to shoot 100 rds of heavy loads to break this gun in

not likely… like is too short for me to waste time (or more money) on a cheap $200 shotgun… on to the sale barn (aka consignment at LGS) she goes… someone may give me $100 for it

should have kept my old Winchester Model 50… it cycled everything just fine, so did the cheap Remington 1400 I had

Now on the hunt for an Winchester Model 50 again
I have a Hatfield 20 ga semi auto. I have put 50 rounds through it and it won’t cycle #7 1/2 or 8 light loads….yet. It cycled some 3” #6’s ( lord only knows where they came from but I had a box of 25) it getting better so if I put another 50 rounds through it, it’s supposed to run just fine. I think I’ll try it this week.

Yep… that’s what I now know about these shotguns

I’m just not willing to go through those steps for the potential of it never working with light loads

I did a poor job of investigating the performance of these before my purchase

Bought the Hatfield 410 semi auto a month or two ago and I am very pleased. I haven't had any problems at all. Thinking about the 12 and 20. Good product so far

A few years back while at my Deer hunting club. (we can only shoot shotguns) I started seeing some of the regulars carrying a OV. It was a Stoeger. I bought one and never looked back. So easy to carry through thick brush. Very quick. And a whole lot of Buckshot fired through it.in the past few years. Even accepts Beretta Mobile chokes.
The Stoeger M3 tactical is getting some great reviews.

I took my Hatfield 20ga semi to our club to hunt pheasants and it performed beautifully. It cycled the 71/2 low brass without a hiccup. There’s almost no recoil and other guys at the club really liked it. My son bought a 20 ga OU TriStar light weight. It’s really nice with the Matt finish and it’s unbelievably light to carry. I think he paid about $600.
