So I have decided to purchase a new (new to me, at least) firearm. Problem is, I have six to choose from (all from private individuals, pictures are not the best quality). Fortune has blessed me, as all of these choices are on my gun-bucket list, but I can only afford one. I ask of whoever is reading this to give me your opinion on the firearm you'd pick and any experience you have had with the firearm or any of it's components and/or attachments. Pretend I'm not worried about cost-per-round when it comes to 9mm or .223/5.56x45. My choices are as follow.

Format:

Picture
Firearm, Caliber, Condition, Price,
Additional Information

FN FNX-9.jpg

Three 17 round magazines, box, papers all from factory.

Beretta 92FS Police Special.jpg
Beretta 92FS Police Special, 9mm, Used, $500,
Five magazines, wood and plastic pistol grips, case,
This is not a police trade in, Police Special was a
type of promotional deal that Beretta did a long while
ago, the Police Special just has a Shield with "PS"
engraved on the left side of the slide.

Sig Sauer SP2022.jpg
Sig Sauer SP2022, 9mm, Very Good, $450,

One 30 round PMAG magazine, about 120 rounds through it,
Quad rail, $500 without sights included, $550 with what look to be
a Sightmark Ultra Shot M-Spec Reflex Sight and Sighmark flip-to-side
magnifier

Palmetto State Armory AR-15 10.5" Pistol, 5.56x45mm NATO, Used, $500,
Four 30 round PMAG magazines, Magpul angled fore-grip,

This is just what is in my area (two hours away or less); if it was in my area, a Glock would be on that list.

I don’t know how much time you get to practice or shoot. Rifles can require extenuating circumstances as many indoor ranges do not allow rifle shooting.

I like the FNX. They have excellent triggers and accuracy.

The Sig SP2022 I’d avoid because magazines are expensive. I don’t care for the double Action Trigger.

I can’t tell the condition about the Beretta but most officers do not shoot very often so it potentially can have less than a box of ammo through it. The double action is stiff, though. You can change the springs internally.

I’m torn amongst the AR rifles. I like the old school AR. Quite nostalgic. The other AR is good, too.

You can make your own AR pistol for much less these days. So I’d pass on the Palmetto State Armory Pistol. Get on their mailing list. You can get the pistol for much less. Mags don’t cost much.

If you have easy access to an outdoor range, get the AR rifle. If not, do the FN 9 mm. Plus it’s much more affordable to shoot a 9 mm.

I have to go for the FNX as well. I have an FNS40 and i can say that it is one of the nicest pistols i have ever owned. I would be willing to assume the 9mm is just as good, plus being left handed i prefer the ambidextrous capabilities of their guns

Out of your list I would also go for the FNX-9; I own one...I like it! I think the target AR would be my second choice, but AR's are going on sale all the time, not hard to find a deal if you keep your eyes open. But that is a pretty good price for the FNX that looks to be in good condition.

Why do you want a gun? This may help you decide.
1. For the H of it (aka $ burning a hole in your pocket).
2. Shooting targets for a hobby/pastime.
3. Home and or self defense.
4. Impress your girlfriend.
5. Other (robbing banks, upsetting Liberals, etc.).

Beretta 92fs. BUT, and note the big BUT, make sure it fits your hand. It's pretty bulky, is all I'm saying. Mine shoots especially well and so did my neighbor's.

Do you already have 9mms or ARs? If you're lacking in one of those areas, get the one that fills the bill. For ME, following that advice, it would be the AR as I gave my youngest the one I had and I have about 10 9mms.

Shooting, home defense, in the rare case of shtf, and as collecting as many as I can so that I may get familiar with many different platforms.

IMO, the 92FS is the only special one on the list.

The Sig is a real yawner. (I've got one) Nothing special.
The rifles, nothing really special there.

So, IMO, the FNX9 and the Beretta are the only two you really need to think about.
That, and $2.79 will get you a cup of coffee at WaWa.

sp2022.............probably one of the most under-rated da/sa choices on the market. Smooth DA/sa that will rival any of the metal P series sigs...excellent reliability and good accuracy........a fantastic bread and butter pistol that is worth every penny...

no experience with the FN series
the 92 just does not fit me
AR's.....been there done that....just not interested in the black rifles.....
