Interesting choice because of the substantial difference in quality. The Sig Sauer wins hands down - especially in the reliability & accuracy department. There's a reason for the big price difference between the two. With guns, the saying "You get what you pay for" strongly applies.

The Taurus 1911 is as inexpensively made as a 1911 can be made.

Seems like it comes down to how much you want to spend. Would it be a range gun or a house/defensive gun? For a house/defensive gun, I'd buy the best I could afford. You could buy the Taurus, but (if your experience is like many others who bought it,) after experiencing malfunctions & parts breakage, then shipping it to Taurus for warranty repair (maybe more than once), you may end up with the Sig Sauer anyway.

Another option: If you want a 1911, you might look at a Springfield or Kimber or Ruger. Still less costly than the Sig Sauer but IMO, better than the Taurus.

Purchase a quality firearm. Between the two choices you mention only one is quality. Buy the SIG.

You can buy a used Sig to save on the cost, and you'll have a much better pistol. There are a lot of used pistols on the market that would be much better choices than the Taurus. You might be lucky and get a good Taurus 1911 - but it will be luck. And if your Taurus doesn't work don't count on Taurus customer service to do anything to help!!!
