What is the screw slot in front just above trigger guard for,and what does it do? The attached has only 100 rds of 38 only And is the smoothest action I have ever seen in a revolver 20181104_075408_1576025255260.jpg

That's the best gun Taurus makes and mine was awesome.
I'm still kicking myself for trading it.
I have no idea what the slot is for

No.If you were looking into the barrel,just above the trigger guard the is a hole with a straight slot screw driver could tighten or loosen something

I believe that screw slot is for loosening a screw so the frame side-plate can be removed.

Look up Taurus Model XXX Disassembly - Side plate removal.
