If you have a handgun (Glock etc.) in the side panel pocket of an automobile. (holstered, pointing toward the road beneath),
what are the chances of the gun firing if your car is T Boned?

A discussion my friends and I cannot agree on.
Thanks

Slim to none.

That would be the least of your worries if you got T-Boned hard enough to discharge your pistol.
I would be more worried about the discharge in your underwear.

Or your life, I lost my brother in June after he was T-Boned by a truck running a red light. My advice is pay attention, expect the unexpected from other drivers.

So sorry for your loss my brother.

There's an increase in running stop signs and light thanks to an increase in distracted driving via cell phones and even fancy stereos. Good old defensive driving helps but takes a little effort. Pause a second before taking off and look both ways.

As far as firing your weapon upon impact -- highly unlikely. I'm guessing if it does discharge it'll be the least of your problems.

I'm sure there is a chance of it happening but i think it would be very small(winning the powerball small). Upholstered the odds would probably go up a little.

Walkingwolf, sorry for your loss.
Keep it in a good holster and it's a lot less likely.

Sorry for your loss. :(

As far as the side pocket question, I agree, mathematically improbable chance. And even then, I'm assuming it's not stored pointed at you.
