Stock repair

So I took that stock apart on that tiny little double barrel. Was much easier than I thought. They used some small bolts and square nuts and ground them down. I simply drill the bolt out of the nut and tapped them out. There was this brown stuff over everything that I thought was epoxy but I think it's just stain. The front bolt went between the 2 main springs and had to be removed before the stock could be taken off. That means I wont be able to run a dowel all the way through, I'll just plug each side. I'll run a dowel through the other hole and may drill another in at an angle and use a smaller dowel. I ordered some acra glass and walnut dowels. I probably also drill some very shallow holes inside the break to let the acra glass get a good hold. This will certainly not look pretty when I'm done. I'm sure I could have made it look much better if it wasn't already repaired. Thankfully they didn't use glu or epoxy, It would have been much harder to get apart.

I took some other things apart to clean it too. The bolt on the bottom is the stock bolt and it's bent. The bolt on the top holds the barrels on and it's also bent but after looking at it I wonder if its supposed to be that way. I'm thinking it may be an adjustment for the headspace?

Don't expect much, with everything broke or crushed from the bolts right in the checkering it's going to look hideous. Might even sand out the checkering, will have to see what it looks like when its back together.

And that's all I'm hoping for. I was prepping the wood last night with some acetone to remove any grime from the break and the wood seems a bit punky so my hopes dropped a little. I'm going to dowel it in the rear hole and plug the front holes but not go through and I may drill one or two 1/8" holes at some angles at the rear of the break and dowel it. Even when I get it back together it certainly won't be something I shoot very often but I do have plenty of 6mm flobert ammo and the 9mm flobert shot shells are still made so I'll pick up a box or two of that very expensive ammo. My repair stuff will be here by tomorrow.
