I wondered that as well.
If people have enough presence of mind to realize that they should not have access to a firearm, they should have enough to not buy one to begin with. Besides, the number of criminals that are on no buy lists and have one anyway is proof that the list doesn't work to begin with. List or no list, if you want one, you can get one. Real simple.

You would think not, but like a lot of things, there is more going on. We looked into this when it was proposed in VA. What will happen is people will get pressured into signing up for the list for plea deals, restraining orders, parental visitation rights and other legal actions.

And in a lot of cases, if you are prohibited from buying, you are also prohibited from owning under other laws. So even though someone might think they are only signing up for not being able to buy additional guns, they may be really signing up for losing the guns they have.

Zhills brought up a great point, how or will they verify the people signing up to have their right removed? Ex wives, jilted GF's, ticked off relatives, practical jokers and anyone else you can think of might do this on someone else's behalf.....and don't try to put me on this list, I'm sure I have a few more guns I might want to buy.
