Long story short I spilled remington 40-x bore cleaner and some oil on my Glock receiver. A little bit of both got on the slider as well. I don't think any got into the firing pin channel. I guess I shouldn't clean around cats. What worries me is the caution on the bore cleaner. "caution not to let it come into contact with the firing mechanism". What would be the best course of action? Is the bore cleaner corrosive or do they just not want gunk build up? How should I clean this off of my gun?

i don't know anything about 40x cleaner....so i got curious...

the remington site does have MSDS spreadsheet on it. http://www.remington.com/pages/news-and-resources/safety-center/material-safety-data-sheets.aspx

says it contains "natural earth in a complex mixture of saponified animal and mineral oils".......now exactly what that means i have no clue.....

if it is of concern, remove it. Hoppe's No. 9 comes to mind......

Baschaff, sounds ("... natural earth... animal and mineral oils...") sounds to me like 'gunking up' danger rather than corrosion or dissolving. I would detail strip and clean with Hoppe's #9 and make sure it's 'goo free' and has a minimal amount of proper lubrication for the parts.

Just spray a polymer-safe degreaser on the whole thing. I'd strip the slide to make sure nothing got in the FP channel.
