I have seen that previously. Mostly a good and interesting report. However he is very wrong about what will cause/prevent chain fires. A lube wad or overball greasing is necessary to prevent chain fires. I have seen chain fire by a shooter who believed as this guy does.

The "Chain Fire" is the result of the parabolic effect. This is what fires a flintlock. Loose caps or no caps allow the first wave of heat over the nipple. The first ball of heat from an explosion is the most intense. Colt never recommended the use of grease over the chambers of their guns. The fire does not blow backwards into an adjoining chamber. Modern Cowboy shooters do not use lard over the chambers. They do use high tech nipples that fit and hold the caps.
