So for Father's day I bought my cousin a ProMag 25rd Mag (ProMag SMI-A17 S&W SD40 .40 S&W (25) Rd Blue Steel )
for his SD40VE.
As you can see in this video () The mag has issues not advancing the bullets once at high capacity. Lots of people report jamming at full capacity. And they also say the magazine holds 32 rounds not 25.
So I also got him this S&W M&P EXTRA-POWER MAGAZINE SPRING (https://www.brownells.com/magazines...-m-p-mag-spring-sku078000168-32423-62491.aspx)
I'm hoping the extra power magazine spring will help with this issue.
I do not know much about guns, or how to disassemble them.
I wanted to ask if someone could inform me on how to install the extra power magazine spring so we can make sure the 25rd magazine has no issues.
The spring it comes with doesn't really work well until the clip is like half full or something - I figured it's the spring in it. This also causes jams a lot with this ProMag 25rd according to reviews on it.
Half the reviews say for their SD40VE it works fine, no jams, but there are a lot of people who say it jams.
I wanna make sure I don't put the spring in backwards, or anything like that. I think I saw a video of a guy replacing the spring but I can't find it.
It was something like pressing down on a button at the bottom of the clip, then sliding a piece up just a bit, then eventually off and letting the spring come out.
Can someone refer me to a video showing how to install a new spring?
Will this spring stop jamming and make sure at full capacity the gun won't jam?
I've read oiling the spring can help as well. If we're taking it apart we might as well oil it too if that will help it.
Any other advice to make the 25rd mag work well at full capacity without jamming?
