Savage Model 170 30-30

I inherited my FIL's Savage M 170 when he passed in 1978 and put it in my safe. I've kept it clean and oiled all these years. I decided to hunt with it this year. The old low-end 4X Weaver he had on it was clouded up, so I put a spare 3-9X32 on it. After bore sighting and taking it to my range, I'm happy with it, keeping all shots at 125 yards inside 2" offfhand. The last deer it was used on was in 1977, and I have the antlers hanging on my wall. Going to dedicate this year's season to honor a good man who served this country in WWII.
Anyone else ever do something like this?
