I bought a remington 887 12 gauge a few years back and recently noticed a slight off center of the barrel. It appears to "bend" to the right slightly and not perfectly straight down the center of the gun.

First question: Is this a safety concern for me?

Second: I stripped the gun down and noticed that the mag tube is either bend or doesnt properly screw into the receiver and caused it to seat off center of the gun, which then throws off the barrel when putting it all together. Has anyone ever heard of this?

The mag tube is not noticeably bent or has been damaged and appears to have a straight edge.

Any help would be appreciated. Gun is out of warranty and I dont want to send it to Rem for 6 weeks to get looked at.

Did you notice these problems before or after you tore your gun down?

Is there a competent gunsmith in your area?

Trouble finding one. Which is why I am here.

Is a slight bent or imperfection like this normal? Is the gun still safe?
