There seems to be no end in sight for this buying frenzy.
Wonder how many are new gun buyers and how many are just boys like us upping the arsenal.

Liberals aren't sitting on their hands, they just can't figure out where all those loopholes are so they can get their gun faster.

I think folks like us are frustrated that we can't find what we want for reasonable prices. The newbies are more content saying, "I just want a gun, whaddya got?"
Yep and that's the guy who just walked out of a gun store with a 30-378 Weatherby magnum rifle to protect his home!

Pity the guy next to him at the range.
Yeah, last Fall I was sighting in a new .308 at an indoor 25-yard range because that was all I had available. Through my electronic ear muffs, I could hear people talking about how loud it was.

I’ve been waiting for my “ instant background check” for an entire week. Finally got it back today. At this point I’d love a 3day waiting period.

My last NICS (about 4 weeks ago) took 4 days.

I bought a gun yesterday and the instant check was instant. When i got there a guy was waiting on one he did the day before and was in research. I did my paperwork, she typed it in and when i paid i asked if it went through and she said of course it did. When the other guy left she said she suspected the other guy had something in his background, probably a weed charge by the way he was talking. Stamps do you have a common last name and or do you put your SS# down? My name isn't common and i always use my SS#. Some people are reluctant to put that down for some reason.

I use my social and my name is getting more common. I was thinking that because I bought 3 other guns in the last 6 weeks that it got a closer look. It went through yesterday. I may wait a few months before buying again, at least with a background check. There was a guy the next twin over who had the exact same name as me. It really sucked when he got arrested for robbing a porn store and the put our full name on the headline. People who know me knew right away that it wasn’t me because he only took money, no merchandise.

In NC, having a CCH permit allows us to take a new purchase immediately. No more waiting on NICS... Not sure if that'll change if the new "universal background check" bill gets forced through Senate.

LOL!!! That's too funny. I don't think buying 3 guns in 6 weeks had anything to do with it, i have done that in less than a week, actually in one day before. I do bet it does have everything to do with the guy who robbed the porn store though being he has the same name and lives so close. Though the SS# should help with that....

NICS are ran by the state. Some states are running further behind than others.
NJ is currently running about 4 days behind. Then again when it comes to firearms NJ does everything slow.

Buddy lives in PA. He bought a shotgun a few weeks ago. He was in and out of the store in under an hour.

I can not wait to get out of this God forsaken state.

Recently heard this story...

Retired State Trooper was buying a pistol. Filled out all his paperwork and the store employee told him they'll call him when he can pick up his gun, it'll probably be next week. The Trooper was confused and asked "what do you mean next week?"
Counter guy explained that background checks were running about a week behind.
The Trooper said... Oh, OK.

Trooper walked around the store and pulled out his cellphone. Placed a call. (I'm sure you can guess who he called)

Walked back up to the counter and asked the counter guy to check and see if his background check came back.
The guy kind of got an attitude and reiterated that they were taking about a week and they would call him when it came back. The Trooper persisted... just humor me he said... Go check.

The counter guy returns in amazement. Yep, it's back. Heres your gun, have a nice day.

I wish I had an "in" like that.

Speed that's interesting, I always thought NICS was federal (FBI?). I've read similar stories, mostly from the NY / NJ area. Supposedly it's much easier for the wealthy or elite to acquire permits up there

NICS are federal but they are initiated at the state level. In the case of NJ it is the New Jersey State Police firearms unit that is submitting the NICS check to the FBI. The state is the gatekeeper. The feds run the actual check.
