Just rescued a pit (I think he's more staffie) last night.....MAGNUS!
So yesterday (on very short notice) my girlfriend and I decided that we would rescue Magnus. Everything seemd like it would be a perfect fit, until the receptionist at the vet told me he was extremely dog aggressive. After going back and forth with the vet we decided we would give Magnus a chance.
Dog aggressive?!?!?!?! I think whoever came up with that must be dog IGNORANT!
Here you see Magnus and John Gotti about a 1/2 hour after I got home.....A HALF HOUR!!!!!! At first they were both excited (which should be expected) but they calmed down very quickly. I think that they will be great friends. ABSOLUTELY no sign of aggression from either of them.
Magnus is really one of the most laid back dogs I have ever seen. His personality started to come more and more as the evening progressed.
After establishing that Magnus and Gotti were ok, we decided it was time to give Magnus the ultimate test.....CATS! At first he was a bit over eager, which of course made the cats run the other direction. Once he realized that the calmer he was the closer they came things were great. By the end of the evening Magnus was lying in the middle of the living room floor and would only raise his head if a cat walked by. Once again, absolutely no sign of aggression.
Magnus also walks very well on a leash. I took him for about a 45 min. walk yesterday evening before I brought him to the house and he behaved himself 100%.
Magnus, John Gotti, my girlfriend, and I all slept in the same bed with absolutely no issues. Once again, when I first took them down the hall, they thought it was playtime. After about five minutes, however, I had two snoring dogs keeping me awake :x .
