Philly cops heckled during shootout

With 6 wounder police officers, the responding officers report being heckled and having objects thrown at them from the onlookers.
One cop was reportedly shoved from behind while running to the aid of his comrades.
This is happening WHILE the shootout is happening.
Why anyone in their right mind would want to be a cop today is beyond me.
And this is coming from a guy who grew up in a cop family.
If the police are not wanted even while the bullets are flying , they should just quit responding until all the shooting has stopped and the
threat is over. Give these people what the want and deserve.
Hope the liberals are proud of themselves for demonizing all police.

Exactly, let the animals have the zoo all to themselves. Stop responding. It is obvious a certain ethnic group is behind this trouble - in every major city; not trying to sound racist, but the facts are the facts.

Im glad it's over with and no lives were lost. Hope this time he serves a long sentence. But it is sad how some of the public is treating to police.
The story that came out of the Philly shootout.

The the real story that came out of the Philly shootout is that the police were taunted and heckled and even had things thrown at them. What’s wrong with these animals? Someone should go down there and kick some ass! If I was a cop in that situation I would loose my mind!

If I was a cop in that area, I would not respond; I would tell the few remaining honest folks to arm themselves and protect themselves because we are no longer responding to calls that put officers' lives at risk.

It was not a call. It was serving a warrant. Honest folks have no standing in court to obtain a warrant.

However, your frustration is shared by the mayor:

"If the state and federal government don't want to stand up to the NRA and other folks, let us police ourselves," Kinney [Philadelphia Mayor] said.
I remember a situation were in a major city in the US, the local phone company ( At the time AT&T was still a monopoly )
faced the situation were their installers and repairmen became targets for robberies and beatings every time they needed to work in the local ghetto, the phone company at the time solved the problem by red drawing the area, no phone were to be installed or repaired, no lines were to be fixed.
Withing one week, the problem was solved, the current "leaders" of such ghetto, assured the phone company that they would guaranty the safety of the phone personnel, The company never again had any of their personnel targeted. It was rumored that some questionable members of the ghetto were severely beaten but no proof was ever found.
