I thought I would post this because there is a lot of confusion on many forums about this. Remington Arms was sold a while back to Ceberus Capitol Management. This is the same group that bought Bushmaster Firearms from Dick ****, (company founder), back in April of last year. CCM has several billion dollars in assets, and for whatever reason has decided to get into the arms business, and hopefully expand both companies. Remington has been in financial hot water for years, and struggling to stay afloat. They have the same problem that Winchester had. Old outdated machinery, piss poor management, (bean counters who knew little to nothing about weapons), and horrible quality control. In a last ditch effort Remington bought the Charles Daly line and put their name on it. They did the same with the Bakial Russian line. Remington refers to them as "Spartan". On the other end Bushmaster has one of the best names in the AR-15 market, and has been very successful. By interbreeding the 2 of them, (Remington and Bushmaster), CCM is hoping to improve sales of both, and hopefully allow Remington to once again be profitable. As for Patriot Ordinance Factory, (POF), they are under contract to produce Bushmasters gas piston model. Bushmaster, (CCM), decided it would be a better, faster way to get a piston model on the market, rather than design their own. In the future expect to see a lot of identical guns between Bushmaster and Remington. Much like Browning and Winchester when Winny was still up and running. No doubt Remington will see more changes simply because they are doing so poorly financially. Not so with Bushmaster. (You don't need to "fix" something that isn't broken.) Bushmaster recently landed a multi million dollar government contract for many of their rifles. This is a good thing that will only make them even better. Bottom line here is a Bushmaster is a Remington is a POF. Hope this undoes some of the confusion. Bill T.
