My "other" NJ Friends.... Check out this other firearm

I was at the FFL the other night and he showed me this.... A Troy Industries A4 "Other Firearm" that is completely legal in NJ. He showed me a NJSP letter stating so.
It's a little pricey in my opinion ($1200) but I'd be lying to say I am not extremely tempted....

Unfortunately there is only 1 NJ distributor. https://techopsinternational.com
Ugh....seriously thinking about picking one up before Trenton catches wind and kills it.
Don't know whether to jump now or wait to see what other manufacturers throws their hat in the ring. I know nothing about Troy Industries.
Its a pretty badass firearm.

If I lived behind enemy lines, I'd jump on it before the enemy figures out what is going on and bans it.

^^^^ Kinda what I'm thinking ^^^^
If i remember right those are the rifles, pistols.....i mean "other guns" that don't have tradition rifling? I think they have 4 straight groves down the barrel. Very cool concept but not very accurate and has a tendency to tumble bullets if its the same gun I'm thinking of. I think they were ok for short distances. I never did look into if they were legal in NY or not. I know the other "shotguns" are legal but some places still won't sell them in fear of the police not knowing the laws or having the laws changed and the hassle with that.
Square, The "other firearm" in the video has a 12.5" AR barrel with a 1/7 twist.

In the case of NJ what makes this a non NFA "other firearm" is the brace and vertical fore grip. Removing either one would present a legal issue.
Oh ok. Strange that just by adding a forward grip changes it from a SBR to a "other firearm" but who am i to argue laws that work in our favor?

This is the gun i was thinking of that came out last year. I just read where they have a new projectile for these that will bring it to 1moa @ 100. It looks sort of like a dart without a point,

Link to letters from NJ AG office and ATF explaining why its considered "other firearm"

I have a couple stripped AR lowers. I’d really like to know to know if I built one using the same specs. ie...brace, VFG and 12.5” barrel would it be legal is well? The NJSP letter is a bit ambiguous stating... “this opinion is based upon the two forearms reviewed, however if the design or dimensions change from those samples, it may change the classification of the firearm”

It’s so easy to get your @$$ in a sling in these communist states.

The receiver of those guns are also marked other, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Thats what makes me think it could be an issue. I have looked and I can not find a stripped AR lower from a reputable manufacturer marked "other".
I can build one for much cheaper than $1200 but I don't need or want the NJSP kicking my door down over it.

And just to muddy the waters some more..... The Dark Storm Industries firearm that both letters reference is not marked "other firearm". As seen in the pictures.

Gotta be honest... Its S$%T like this that makes me despise this freakin state. In MANY other states there's no need to play these games.
Really, really need to move.

I cannot speak to their firearms but they make, what I believe to be, the best BUIS on the market... and have for 15 years.

If you can pick one up, get it. Connecticut is looking into banning these already.
