A middle school girl in Overland Park, Kansas, is facing a felony charge for allegedly making her hand into the shape of a gun and pointing it at classmates.

NBC News reports that an unidentified individual “felt threatened” by the girl’s action and “used the school’s online anti-bullying app to alert administrators.” An investigation followed, which led to the school’s resource officer being told and the girl being arrested.

The Kansas City Star reports that the girl made a gun out of her hand—by pointing her finger—after another classmate allegedly asked her to name five people she would kill if she could. “In response, the girl allegedly pointed her finger pistol – like the ones many children use playing cops and robbers.” She allegedly pointed her hand at four classmates, then herself.

The student was charged with making a “criminal threat,” which is a felony.

Johnson District Court documents show claims that the girl “unlawfully and feloniously communicated a threat to commit violence, with the intent to place another, in fear, or with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities.”

I remember back in the 60s seeing a boy riding a bicycle to school with a bb rifle on the handlebars and no one really made a deal of it, today a kid point its fingers towards another kid and the first kid is arrested and charged.
It only show what 60 years of socialist indoctrination in our schools have produced.

I wonder what caliber the finger was?
Was it a semi automatic finger?
If she was African American was it a "Black gun'?
She should have just given the girl the middle finger,
On second thought then she would have gotten arrested for a sex crime.

Well i guess it's a good thing that girl didn't have something more substantial like a pop tart. The charges would have been upped to attempted murder.

It’s idiotic to pursue felony charges against this child. Are police going to charge the student who asked the 12-year old the question with inciting violence?

This story goes from bad to worse, according to Star columnist Toriano Porter, who points out the fact that two kids in the same school district who recently brought real guns to school aren’t facing felony charges for their actions.

The felony thing is way over the top.

But, This girl and whoever asked her to point out who she would shoot do need to spend a little time under the lights down in the principals office with their parents going over just exactly why that type of conversation is unacceptable in, especially, a school setting.

It's really not a police issue, unless the parents choose to make is so, or there is some underlying "real" reason to pursue it further.

The pointing 1,2,3,4 and then herself it what worries me about this thing and some counseling is in order.
