Looking for some help identifying the exact model of my Grandfathers shotgun

I'm told it's a 311 but I'm on Numrich looking for parts and there are a lot of variations. I've done some Google image searching and I haven't come across another gun with the etching in the same format.

You have to hold it to the light just right to see that there were a few lines that have been completely worn away, but it basically goes like this.

Too much of a gap between barrels and breech to be safe ti shoot
The model# may be on the bottom of the action.

I’ve got one of those 311’s. Kicks like a mule. Something about the stock dimensions I think. I keep it around because it’s the only 12 gauge side by side I have. Lol.

What? There's no gap...

It's stamped E47695, so that prefix E is the E in 311E, correct?

I've only ever used sport shot in it. Since it doesn't always fire I don't often take it out, but it's fun to shoot clays with once in a while.

Yes there is a gap there. I know very little about SXS but there are a couple of guys here who could tell you more if that gap is safe or unsafe to shoot. I do know that once the gap reaches a certain clearance it is unsafe. A good gunsmith can fix that and put them back on face but i don't know if it's worth it with many guns.

Here is one i have that shows a fairly tight mating surface with just a very slight gap at the top. This only shoots low pressure BP loads so i don't worry about it.

Well, I happen to know some of the guys at Atlas Gunworks. I might have to bring it by and see what they think.

Thanks for the heads up.
