I understand that Indiana has a lifetime carry permit you can buy for extra bucks! Have you heard about that or does your state have an extended license period that you can purchase?

I'm from the great state of Indiana and yes it's true. $100 I think for the lifetime permit. $30 for a 4 year.

Well worth the $100 unless you are 80 yrs old. What part of Indiana?

That's a bargain. Ours are $100.00 every time, good for 4 yrs, and with a re-qual requirement after 2 yrs which will cost $50 - $100 for the privilege of shooting in front of a state-approved instructor. But, Hey -- we busted butt for >7 yrs to even get this much.

If you've had a carry permit before, the charge is $100... if you have not had a permit before the charge is $125

The applicable law is IC 35-47-2-3

If any of these "lawmakers" had half a brain in their heads, they would see all of us already have a "lifetime carry permit". It's called The Second Amendment! Bill T.

Agreed. And only one state seems to recognize that: The Socialist Haven of Vermont.

Has anyone heard of a rumor that Indiana is going to do away with the lifetime permit? I was at a local gunshop a few weeks ago and one of the sale's guy's was telling me a buddy of his is a State Trooper and told him that after the first of the year they aren't going to offer it anymore. I can't find anything about it anywhere so was wondering if anyone has heard this rumor. Hopefully that is all it is. A rumor.

State officials don't like to limit their tax revenue so I would doubt that the lifetime permit will stand the test of time! ;)

I would guess the answer is yes! But at some point I would not be surprised if they did not issue any more lifetime permits.

Gun laws tend to be political footballs and depending who is controlling the Governors office and the state legislature that is the direction the gun control issue will swing.

I was born in Indiana and lived there from 1941 through 1969. The state swings back and forth between democratic and republican control and usually tends to be a bit more democratic than the other. The influence of liberal labor unions has more than offset the conservative independent farmers that always voted Republican.

Be vigilant and try to influence everyone you know to the dangers of socialism that we face today under the Clinton Machine. Her offer of cookies and other free goodies in exchange for personal freedom is the sirens song she sings.
