I've never shot a gun before, besides the bolt action .22 I shot at camp when I was a kid. I am somewhat interested in learning how to fire a gun, not specifically own one, just how to use a pistol. Just has been something I thought would be interesting to learn.

Where do you think I could get training for not a TON of money, I'm not planning on really being proficient at this and being able to ward off home intruders or even have a real gun. Just sort of as entertainment/something I've never done before.

Would a shooting range be good for that? Do you have to bring your own gun to there usually? I'm a total newbie. Please help!

go to the range and ask if they have a first steps program. or just ask around youll find gun owners love to talk and most love to introduce people to the sport.

How would I best go about finding a range in my area? Is it something I can find in the yellow pages, or is it more of a thing where I should go to a place with a good reputation? And lastly I would ask a friend but I don't know anyone who owns a gun that's operable or they ever use.
