I had a bad experience with a KOA campground years ago. I won't say where and when but suffice it to say I will never use KOA again. There were young punks working there at the office when I checked in and other people working there who were arseholes. The people were either rude or were airheads. I had made a reservation on my PC for a campsite but some young desk flake couldn't even find me in her "system". I went to a state campground a month later and the older lady at the camp master's RV was so sweet and friendly when I checked in also with a reservation. There was a slight problem as somebody else had their vehicle parked in the spot reserved for me but she quickly got me assigned to another campsite without too much trouble. The hot showers were nice if I recall. They were either very cheap for guests to use or free, I can't remember which.

The nicest people working at campgrounds have been the camp masters of state campgrounds and owners of private mom-and-pop campgrounds. Older people working at such places tend to be better-mannered and competent at what they are doing. Young people lack a work ethic and soft skills in modern times.

I would say use a government campground or a mom-and-pop private campground. Avoid "corporate" (big box) campgrounds like the plague.

You can check the reviews ratings for campgrounds on Google or Yelp! Look for nice working hot showers.

Wilderness camping is also nice where it legal to do so.

Aren't you the Mr. John Preston that moved from Idaho to Oklahoma due to health issues? Aren't yo the Mr. John Preston that was unable to vote due to a 2 mile drive? Aren't you the Mr. John Preston who is a disabled veteran? Aren't you the Mr. John Preston that complains about everything and wants the government to take care of you? I have found all KOA's to be well kept and well run. Why do you say you are from Anderson, California, did you move again?.

Hmm, something happened somewhere, someplace, a long time ago so everyone should not use these facilities spread out nation-wide?

What kind of troll are you?

I had a bad experience with some Tupperware wear once. Now it’s only wax paper for me. TV isn’t what it used to be. Nobody rides off into the sunset in movies anymore. The music kids listen to sucks. Candy bars cost more and you get less in the wrapper. I went to a circus when I was young. I don’t like to watch the geese fly over anymore. People just don’t care about the important things anymore. I think I’ll go watch TV shows from 1955 and give reviews and opinions on them. I think the guys on this gun forum really don’t give a s#it about this crap.

Sure am glad I have a life.
If there is a Mrs. fox she deserves a medal for putting up with this guy
It was amusing for a while but now it’s just tedious.
I guess his next post will be that the doctor slapped his ass when he was born so now he will not go to a doctor anymore,

Then you have been lucky with them then. I was just my bum luck to have used the one at Mount Shasta in July of 2011. Maybe just bad location. Bunch of punks in Siskiyou County. I just trust all the non-KOA ones much better and have had a much better experience with all the non-KOA campgrounds I've ever used. Many of the locals in Siskiyou County seemed unsavory too. A waitress at a breakfast place there in McCloud blew her nose and made a customer's toast without washing her hands. That area seems like the trailer-trash of northern California. The sign should read UNWELCOME.

The older camp master lady at the Bodega Dunes state campground at Bodega Bay one month later was super nice and professional.

I like the campground at Panther Flat, USFS federal, along the Smith River in Del Norte County also. Used that one the day before the KOA one in Mount Shasta. There were no staff people to deal with there at all. Just place one's campground reservation on a designated post there at one's reserved camp site or in the windshield of the car, I can't remember which. I was on a several-day drive of northern CA for an automobile vacation and used a number of campgrounds.

Time to stop responding to his post. It does no good to ban him. He just makes a new I.D and comes back, Probably using wifi hotspots. To avoid IP banning,

Some people can also use a few handy Chrome extensions to hide behind.

You gotta love how he ignores any response and continues with his stupid diatribe. That’s at least mildly entertaining.

Yeah, Stevejet, you make a valid point; we should eventually stop feeding the troll.

But, to a certain degree, we ought to argue against some of the junk that is espoused by trolls like John Preston aka mister_fox because the sick stuff he sometimes puts out is contrary to any sort of moral goodness, like the thread about our biggest problem being too many people which digressed into talking about sterilizing people and seemingly trying to create his idea of a perfect world by applying socialist/communist principals. When we strongly disagree with immoral or just plain stupid posts we can show the good character of our members and of NGF. But, there does reach a point where we ought to know better than to keep feeding the troll.

Might we keep it in mind, because I imagine he will resurface under a new moniker soon enough.

Guy visited ONE KOA, ten years ago, thinks he knows it all, about camping. Well, personnel aside, KOAs are well prepared, have a well stocked General Store, good bathrooms and showers, and very reasonable
rates. Most the state campsites don't have a store. Many aren't very well kept up, from season to season. Most state sites have passable bathrooms.

I wish I could buy this guy, for what he knows, and sell him, for what he THINKS he knows...
