Keeping track of guns

Do any of you keep track of all of the serial numbers of your guns? I have so many that came to me from private sales and family hand me downs but I have little or no information on them. If they were stolen I wouldn’t be able to provide the police with a list of serial numbers and exact model for any hope of recovery.
Years ago I did make a list and put it in a safe place that I’d never be able to find if you help a gun to my head. It’s probably a good idea to have an inventory with numbers and any other identifiers or particulars.

This is what I use.. Doesn't have any unnecessary permissions, backs up to my Gmail and drop box, and it saves as a pdf..

Yes i recently started doing it and put all pertinent info like make, model, serial#,cost, value, preferred loads etc all in one notebook. It's more to help my wife if something ever happens to me. I'm not done yet as I'm still working on some more info to put in there.

My wife’s next husband isn’t getting my guns! I think he’s just a fisherman anyway.

Not to get too personal, and I understand if you do not want to say, but is gun insurance expensive?

I have a book from Bianchi that I have had for a few decades - I can list every make, model, serial number when I bought it, sold it, value, etc.
Otherwise, make yourself either a spread sheet or database and add pictures for every gun - that would go a long way in case of fire or theft.
Yes, I maintain a spreadsheet with all pertinent info. I have it in both digital and paper.

I'll have to make it paper as well.

I keep Make, Model, SN, Caliber, Date Purchased, Purchase Price. Value, Upgrades, Photos, Date Sold, Selling Price & Sold To on an Open Office spreadsheed. This spreadsheet exists in several places.

They are covered under my homeowners for the contents. Then my NRA membership covers the deductible.

Did you verity they cover guns? Most policies including my USAA do not cover 'valuables' such as jewelry and firearms unless you get a separate rider but they require serial numbers. I have a problem scheduling all my firearms. The NRA Lockton insurance cost more but they don't require serial number except for high value firearms.

I also keep a personal spreadsheet with make, model and serial number. I added purchase date, price, est value, trigger pull weight and add notes as I go along. I back it up in several places one of which is on my person in a flash drive I always tote around.

My homeowners will cover up to $2500; that MIGHT cover one of my shotguns; it won't cover my HK P7s, let alone the other 30-40 guns
Yes i asked my agent.
Spreadsheet with all info and history. Guns have corresponding tags with more info.

My insurance agent is the one who suggested sending a copy of my firearm info. Incase my records are destroyed in a fire. When i get a new one i call him and its added.
I checked with my agent, my insurance only covers $1000. Told her I was glad to know if someone broke into one of my safes and stole 20 of my guns, they’d cover one of them.

Have to follow up with a list for a rider. Idk what the gun rider will cost but it was $37 to cover a $7200 Terry Redlin I insured before we moved it.
There are several companies out there who cover collectibles, with guns among those items. Do a Google search; you can get about $35K coverage for about $350/year

Thanks. I only have a few but was worried about giving an insurance company a list of what I had. In a way, I am registering my guns and they do not have to keep that private.

I among to check with mine to see if "they" need a list if it will be a minimal amount.'

Thanks
