A plot for an attack on our sometimes peaceful, democratic, political system which anarchists and their enablers - DEMOCRATS - wish to eliminate or run roughshod over. It was a plot against "us".

Don't confuse the "lunatic fringe" for major warring political factions. No civil war here folks. Move on.

“There has been a disturbing increase in anti-government rhetoric and the re-emergence of groups that embrace extremist ideologies. These groups often seek to recruit new members by seizing on a moment of civil unrest and using it to advance their agenda of self-reliance and armed resistance. This is more than just political disagreement or passionate advocacy, some of these groups’ mission is simply to create chaos and inflict harm upon others.”

Which is why I wouldn’t lose an ounce of sleep over the Democrat politicians. Targeting law enforcement on the other hand was uncalled for. They are stuck in the middle of this mess but given the opportunity, I’d bet a dollar they’d jump at the chance to stomp out BLM and ANTIFA. Enemy of my enemy so to speak...

LANSING — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer decried hatred and bigotry from her Capitol office Thursday in response to an alleged plot by domestic terrorists to kidnap her, and said President Donald Trump is "complicit" in what happened because he has not denounced right-wing hate groups.

Whitmer thanked law enforcement for uncovering the case and said hopefully it will lead to convictions "bringing these sick and depraved men to justice."

Federal and state officials announced Thursday they had arrested 13 people in connection with a plot to kidnap Whitmer in an alleged act of domestic terrorism.

The governor said this should be a time for national unity against the coronavirus pandemic, but said that Trump has spent the past seven months "denying science. Ignoring his own health experts, stoking distrust and fomenting anger," while "giving comfort to those who spread fear and hatred and division."

She noted that Trump said a white supremacist group called the Proud Boys should "stand back and stand by" when asked to denounce them at a recent debate against former Vice President Joe Biden, whose national Democratic campaign for president she co-chairs. Anyone who fails to denounce such groups is "complicit," she said.

Trump later denounced hate groups, but Whitmer said the groups heard his words at the debate "not as a rebuke, but as a rallying cry," and " a call to action."

"When our leaders speak, their words matter." she said. "They carry weight."

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany attacked the governor's comments.

“President Trump has continually condemned white supremacists and all forms of hate. Gov. Whitmer is sowing division by making these outlandish allegations. America stands united against hate and in support of our federal law enforcement who stopped this plot.” McEnany said, in a statement.

According to an FBI affidavit, individuals connected with a militia group purchased items including a Taser and night goggles, conducted surveillance at Whitmer's cottage, and discussed blowing up a bridge to divert police, kidnapping Whitmer, and taking her to Wisconsin to face a "trial" for treason.

Whitmer told the Free Press in a Thursday interview she has known about the alleged kidnapping plot for several weeks. There have been a large number of online threats against her and officials don't inform her of all of them, she said. This one rose to a level that they "brought me into the loop."

Whitmer said she and her family have had to be "mindful of our movement and our security," but "the stress of everything that we're all going through is close to the surface for everyone," she said.

"I've been very open with my family about what is happening."

Whitmer noted that although conspiracy to kidnap and abetting terrorism are among the most serious charges, the evidence in the FBI affidavit "don't end there," and "it really is startling how serious and how dangerous this really was."

One of the discussions cited in the affidavit involves someone knocking on the door of Whitmer's residence, "and when she answers it just cap her."

Whitmer, an attorney and former Senate minority leader who took office on Jan. 1, 2019, has maintained strong popular support in public opinion polls despite strong opposition from some quarters to the emergency orders she has imposed to address the coronavirus pandemic that began in March. Those orders have ranged from a stay-at-home order, which was lifted June 1, to orders requiring face coverings in enclosed spaces and others that have closed or limited capacity at various businesses.

The orders have spurred protests at the Capitol, including ones attended by demonstrators carrying firearms and signs with message such as: "Tyrants get the rope." According to the complaint, some of the alleged conspirators attended at least one of the Capitol protests.

Officials began erecting a new and higher fence around Whitmer's official residence in Lansing, where she lives with her family, in recent weeks.

Whitmer received a setback Friday when the Michigan Supreme Court, in a 4-3 ruling along partisan lines, struck down as unconstitutional the Emergency Powers of Governor Act of 1945. That is the main statute Whitmer has used to back up her emergency orders.

Since then, Whitmer has issued replacement orders under the Michigan Public Health Code and the Legislature is taking actions to codify some of her other orders.

"I knew this job would be hard, but I’ll be honest — I never could’ve imagined anything like this." Whitmer said.

Whitmer, like Newsom, is a communist tool and a wannabe dictator.

I see several posts here which seem to criticize her with the seeming intent of saying doing this to her is justified. That Whitmer "deserves" it.
Am I correct?????

I don't agree that is what is being said. Just that many governors blame the president for their actions. I believe all of us would never agree that she deserves the actions of those 13 people. We have enough divide right now but when you get down to it we are all complaining about the same thing, just how to fix it is different. One thing is for sure, if congress would get their act together then maybe we all would be better off in these times. What we need is the political parties to stop being partisan and talk to each other to fix this nation.

Lets see, what was she doing while people were being beaten, killed and cars and businesses burned to the ground? Hmm... what could she have possibly been doing with that time? Oh yeah, I know, marching with “protesters” and supporting the defunding of police.

We won’t even discuss the crushing of the Michigan economy over the unconstitutional shutdown orders.

Again, I wouldn’t lose a min of sleep if that had happened. Not a min.

You will likely never read a post on here that advocates or condones kidnapping, murder or assassinations.

Although I agree she needs to be removed from office, I do NOT
agree with their method. I seriously doubt any of the regular members do.
Unconstitutional orders or not, there is a legal method that they ignored. Violence should be the last option considered, not the first.
As far as "it's all Trump's fault" goes....Trump's administration issued guidelines and recommendations to the States. Nothing more, nothing less. Like every other Govenor, she issued the orders that got her where she is.
Not Trump. He has been urging them to end this bullshit or at least cut back and open the economy. The shutdowns are all STATE orders. Not Federal.

If you do see a post on this board that advocates or condones kidnapping, murder or assassination it will not last long... nor will the poster.

I am assuming that comment was meant for me so I’m going to clear that up real quick. I never advocate for those actions, I simply don’t care.

I would like to know about these legal ways of removing a sitting Governor because we have one over here that has been through the court, court ruled his shutdown orders unconstitutional, he’s ignored that ruling and yet nothing happens to him.

Recall petitions. If enough valid signatures are gathered the elected official must stand for election again. It happened in California not so long ago.

Yeah, they’ve been trying to get that done here since he got elected. Somehow, they just keep falling into a black hole. Funny how that happens.

If i'm not mistaken some of her actions, mandates and restrictions are already being fought in court. That's how she should be dealt with. Radical violence seldomly works and would not condone such action unless this was a full blown civil war. While it's talked about frequently i think we are very far from any such real action other than a few fringe groups like these people who were arrested. On the other hand the leftist groups seem to mostly act with impunity. How many people have been arrested for what has essentially been rioting, murder, attempted murder and other political violence? Was anyone ever arrested when a mob of people surrounded a police station or federal building and tried to set it on fire while barricading the occupants inside? I consider both of these actions very similar and i'm still waiting for the multiple police agency new conference telling us of the many arrests that were made.

Absolutely not in a bad way.
Recall, impeachment or like in Texas we have criminal penalties for abuse of power. Even by the Governor.
