Is my shotgun original?

The brand is Remington. I've had contact with Remington. They said that the number on the side of the action is a number that they don't use. Does this imply that this shotgun is a counterfeit? It looks like it was originally a Marine Magnum but it now has some aftermarket items on it.

I doubt that the shotgun is a conterfeit Remington. Gun manufacturers are notorious for suing the hell out of anyone sticking their name/logo on conterfeits. That is the reason the barrels are covered with Patent Dates from the factory.
As far as the serial numbers go. I have several old Remingtons that are positivily Remington rifles without a modern Remington type serial number. A good example is the Browning A-5's made just prior to, and during the second world war. As I pointed out earlier Remington doesn't know what serial numbers are theirs. It looks like a nice defense weapon with lots of memories hang on to it. :thumbsup:

One of the first things i notice on your gun is the lack of a rear trigger group retaining pin, something that's present on every 870 I own.
It may be an offshore licensed model, built elsewhere than the USA.
The two Chinese knockoffs I've heard about here are from Norinco, and Hawk, both are unlicensed clones from China, but I don't believe they use a Remington logo.
