Iran’s top Revolutionary Guards commander, Major General Hossein Salami, warned on Monday that destroying arch-enemy Israel was an “achievable goal”.

“This sinister regime must be wiped off the map and this is no longer … a dream (but) it is an achievable goal,” he said, quoted by the Guards’ Sepah news site.

Four decades on from Iran’s Islamic revolution, “we have managed to obtain the capacity to destroy the imposter Zionist regime”, he said.

Salami’s comments, while not unusual for Iranian officials, come amid particularly heightened international tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and a series of incidents that have raised fears of a confrontation between Tehran and its other main regional rival, Riyadh.

The United States, which withdrew from the Obama-negotiated JCPOA agreement between Iran and world powers in 2018, has imposed a campaign of “maximum pressure” — with vocal support from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Salami’s comments were carried by the MEHR news agency.

The official IRNA agency also carried his remarks, but placed more emphasis on his assertion that Iran was growing stronger and would finally beat its foes despite “hostility” towards it.

Iran has been consistently hostile towards Israel since its 1979 revolution, and Tehran openly supports anti-Israeli armed groups including Palestinian Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

In November 2018, leader Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed Tehran’s long-held position Israel is “a malignant cancerous tumor that must be removed and eradicated.”

Rouhani said in an address at an annual Islamic Unity Conference that Israel was a “fake regime” set up by Western countries.

“One of the ominous results of World War II was the formation of a cancerous tumor in the region,” he said, according to English quotes published a state-affiliated agency.

Iranian generals routinely express the desire to destroy Israel or claim to be able to wipe out Tel Aviv and General Salami in particular is known for making bold statement of Iranian intent.

Earlier this month he said Iran has special “hidden” military powers it is ready to unleash at any moment on an unsuspecting world, as Breitbart News reported.

Salami offered no evidence to back his claim of the so-called “hidden” powers of military persuasion.

Instead he warned enemies of his country of secret capabilities of Iran, adding Tehran has significantly enhanced its military power to create threats and problems unknown and unexpected for anyone who opposes it.

“Our enemies must know that we have increased our capability of creating unknown threats. We have not yet disclosed our main sources of power and what they have seen and we have used so far is a small part of our capacities,” the major general said.

With tensions high between Israel and Iran, the general who has vowed to “cleanse the planet from the filth” of the United States and Israel has been appointed by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as commander of the hard-line Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

Brig.-Gen. Hossein Salami was promoted to Major General on Sunday and will replace Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Ali Jafari, who has headed the military force since 2007 and was demoted to the post of commander of the Hazrat-e Baqiatollah Social and Cultural Base, a cultural and educational division of the force.

“Considering Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari’s statement on the necessity of change in IRGC’s (top) command... and given your valuable experience and competence in fulfilling high-level management and various responsibilities in the revolutionary, Jihadi and popular institution of the IRGC, I promote you to the rank of Major General and appoint you as the top commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps,” Khamenei, quoted by Iran’s Fars News, as saying to Salami.

The 59 year-old general, like most members of the IRGC is a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war and rose through the ranks of the organization, including serving as the former commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force.

There wouldn’t go many days before Iran would also gain nuclear weapons.

However, the Iranian regime is going to have a hard time convincing the Iranian people to go and sacrifice themselves for a war against Israel, that they don’t want. This of course will be changed if Israel started carpet bombing Iranian cities, but until then the Iranian Army’s motivation won’t be at it’s highest, as Israel will literally fight for their survival, and Iran won’t.

A war between Iran and Israel will be a waste of human lives, money and time. If just the leaders of the two countries were as eager to negotiate a peace treaty in the Middle East, as they are to start a war.

The Iranian people don’t hold any grudge against normal Israeli’s as they differentiate between the people and the government. Both countries could learn a lot from each other in many different aspects, but sadly they choose not to.
In the meanwhile, let’s just hope for peace across the region, and learn to accept and live with each other, despite their differences.

I do not believe the average citizen in Iran wants this Jihad.
It is the nut cases in the government and the Ayatollahs.
Just like they had a revolution against the Shah
They need another one to take the hard-line Islamist out of power.
Iran does not just threaten Israel, there goal is Islamic world wide domination.
Submit or die.

Look what happened to Egypt after the Six Day 1967 Arab–Israeli War. You back a person in a corner they have only one way to go through their opposer. They will fight like a Tasmanian Devil.
It would take Israel about a week to destroy Iran. IMHO.

Like the democrats are doing now. What happens when you corner a Tasmanian Devil? You see democrats.
iran does not really care about their population, the tactics, or the costs............

they were at war with iraq for 10 years and the casuality rate was estimated at over 1 million on both sides. Iran was willing to use trench warfare and instituted human wave attacks. they endured gas and chemical attacks and now are believed to be stock piling the same stuff as well as developing a nuclear capability.

they have no problem with conscription and are willing to die........the people are sheep being led to slaughter......and they seem to be fine with the concept of slaughter......be it their own or israel.
I've watched some videos of Iran lately. The people seem to be happy and living pretty good lives. It's hard to believe they are ruled by these whackos.
Their economy is in shambles.
I don’t think that the people are happy and living well.
I have an Iranian neighbor and from what he hears from back home.
The people are suffering from all kinds of shortages.
The videos on YouTube are probably some years old.
i have seen those videos as well...........some American newsman reporting.........the first thing i thought of was the source could not be trusted.......we were shown what the media with its agenda wanted to project.......happy go-lucky peaceful muslims living a modern good life searching for peace............horse hockey.
North Korea is known to stage photos of fully stocked grocery stores and happy shoppers. It seems Iran wouldn't be beneath doing the same thing.

If you really want to see happy Iranians go check out some pictures or videos from 1979 and before.

here are a couple of pics from the Shah era..

I believe in God, and have a deep personal faith.
Religion on the other hand I have problems with at times.
I would never follow a religion that told me how to dress, how to mistreat women . What to eat or drink.
How to HATE others because they do not pray to the save prophet.
This "general" better be careful or he may have to eat his own words! Israel is no push over.
It’s very simple…

1… the Iranian government of the very religious and anti-West Ayatollahs will sit, think, decide and then secretly tell their decision to their Revolutionary Guards and their army & navy.

2…the army, navy and airforce will get ready and dust off their plans -that they drew up last year- and line up their divisions.

3…the master plan is two major arms of invasion forces -one through Iraq [on road #1, past Al-Fallujah {they have a great gas-station there (6 pumps and a snack bar)},
and one will be the invasion fleet of 75 ships, marine-landing craft and a protection fleet of submarines and corvettes, and some drones. This sea-going invasion fleet will be painted blue to blend in with the sea, [ camouflage is important], and sneak out past the Gulf of Oman [no- one will notice it there- this Gulf is pretty quiet and has very little shipping.] (They leave at night from Bandar Aftab port,-it is not a major port and there are no tourists there; -only 2 hotels, the Sorinet Maryam is the better one.)

4… The land invasion force or 220 thousand motivated, armed, fed and prepped good Iranian soldiers and their officers, 400 tanks, 550 armoured personnel carriers, 12 mercedes, (S-class luxury Mercedes, - dark windows, and Wifi), one ship, and 77 6X6, flatbed trucks with food, Korans, water, Korans, clothes, suntan lotion, and flags, will leave at 9 am - on 3rd April 2020 -a friday- so that nobody will notice - all the Iraqis are in the Mosque praying - so the streets are quiet- just a few kids and dogs.

5… The land invasion force has the code-name ‘thruIraq’, to confuse the enemy and keep the direction of the land - force a (big) secret.

6… The Sea-fleet has the secret code-name of “offSomalia” to coordinate the fleet, the ships, the commanders, and sailors, and the rafts. This code name is very secret [under no circumstances must Saudi Arabia find out about this fleet!], so the codename has not been issued or told to the officers, or the captains of the fleet. Only the office workers [ and Sa’id the cleaner] in the central, underground, naval, command center know this name. Everybody else, just knows the sea-fleet as THE SEA FLEET.

7… Now, a small complication:- The State of Israel is very sensitive to invasions, wars, death and even bad-people who want to come into Israel without a visa. Not only the State of Israel, but also the 9 million citizens- (these Israelis are very fussy!… and spoilt.) ….. get upset easily.

So, the Israeli Mossad has an (Ashkenazi -from Hungary) Orthodox jew dressed up as an Ayatollah sitting in the Iranian government and in the very secret small clique of decision makers - (only 6), who run this Islamic country/paradise.

When he saw and heard the secret decision of the secret clique of Ayatollahs (he was there) , he took his time, and next day, notified his handler in Tel Aviv [ Bluetooth to his household fridge and then wifi to Nachmani st, in Tel Aviv.].

8…. The Mossad informed the Minister of defence, and he called The KING in Jordan, who closed his border with Iraq- on route 10 [just off highway #1] at Trebil. The king send an upgraded platoon of Bedouin border-guards (the grey-uniforms, and the Belgium FNs) to guard the border crossing. **Actually , THE KING was very happy to get this call - from Jerusalem; He was and still is very worried that the Shia Muslims could invade, infect and damage his small, (poor), and unstable kingdom. To play it safe -it is best to close the border. The king and his inner circle are Sunni Muslims: them Shia guys are a bit strange and hard to handle. (They get hysterical quite easy.)

9… With the border closed the secret and well-camouflaged Iran force on Highway #1 , got stalled, stopped and just sat there -in Iraq- (the Ayoob supermarket in Ramadi was very busy- and they ran out of cigarettes). They had no orders to turn around.

10… Meanwhile, on the high seas- the fleet was doing well. The admiral -[His excellency -high commander and chief Admiral Salmis Artemis ], had the fleet spread out in a V formation, with the main Iranian aircraft carrier in the lead and at the point of the V. {The Bayandor; 106,300 tonnes, 60 aircraft, and a crew of 5877}.
This was a very impressive fleet, and a great icon of the new Iran and her powerful leadership. The only problem was that it was invisible [ blue paint] and nobody noticed as it was passing just south of Cape Town, -they were all busy watching the whales.

11… The fleet got to the the Straits of Gibraltar [ just a bit further past West Africa], and snuck into the Mediterrian Sea.

12… It was Wednesday afternoon, just after dark 8th April 2020- and the fleet stopped off the coast of Netanya, and dropped anchor(s).
…..immediately, 9674 trained, armed, prepped and ready Iranian marine sea-commandos, called Marines, [also known as I-marines] climbed into the assault boats and sped to shore. They landed on the beach, and advanced quickly to the cliffs of Netanya.

13… A small problem cropped up, when they noticed that they didn’t have any ropes, ladders, or climbing stuff. They were stuck on the beach. [ ! Just poor planning, and at their training site in Iran - Delvar beach, there are no cliffs just flat beach…and seashells.]
… meanwhile, Yossi Schwartz was walking his dog along the cliffs - [everybody else was at home [it was Passover eve and all the families had gathered to sing the Hagadda and drink wine ( and eat gelillta fish) ], he saw, the thousands of Iranians on the beach, and quickly called his third cousin - Sami, who runs a kiosk in Herzelia [nearby], and Sami came after half an hour and, started selling cigarettes and soft drinks to these trained commandos…
Now - Iranian money is worthless, so the commandos traded one rifle for 3 packs of cigarettes, or 2 clips of bullets, for an orange drink. Sami had his little truck filled with rifles and ammo - he ran out of cigarettes, so he called the police, they came and got very very upset..the beach was full of empty soda bottles. The main policeman [he had the loudest voice- screamed at these Iranian invaders to go home - “go mess up your own beach ; not ours.”

14… the fleet left.

15… It was a short invasion.

16… A bit of advice; next time you plan to invade Israel, check with Israel first…..
