Back in the day the military wasn't so strict on their supplies. From what I've been told now at the practice ranges they have to bring back every pin and even look for as many fragments as they can find and turn them in. Back when this grenade was probably taken you could literally buy dynamite and hardware stores. Sometime in the late 60's early 70's that was changed. Finding live grenades in the homes of WWII, Korean and Vietnam vets is not all that rare.
