Besides have been eclipsed and superseded by superior modern offerings. Many people were left without a source of either ammo or brass.

Ummm, these are "modern" offerings. made on modern CNC machinery, with modern tooling, and in a modern factory. I don't see anyone using machines requiring the antique overhead belt system any longer.
Even with some of the early Automags, owners were, and still are, cutting off the necks on .308 Winchester brass and stuffing .44 caliber bullets in those. Did you know that?

Brass is readily available from Starline as 44 AMP (Auto Mag Pistol) and any reloader can manufacture brass from 308 Winchester or 30-06 Springfield brass. Most of those shooting the 44 AMP were rolling their own ammunition anyway. Loading dies are available from both Hornady and RCBS.
