My family has past down this 1911 to me without any past history. Could someone figure out the date it was made and where, what war it was in, branch of service, and value?

If your serial number is 617452 the pistol was made by Colt in 1919 for the US Army. It was originally in M1911 configuration (blued, arched backstrap and short trigger). It was reworked into M1911A1 configuration (Parkerized, flat backstrap and long trigger) at sometime in its life (probably for use in WWII).
