I usually keep between 500 and 1000 rds of .223 and 9mm each.
Also have some .45, 380, and 12ga. rds. leftover from previous guns.

1500 rounds .223, 250 rounds 12 gua #4 buck, 600 rounds 9mm, porbably another 200 rounds assorted plus a brick of 22 lr and 100 22 mag. I'm considering getting more .223 as the price is jumping up.
Between my two sons they probably have 2000 rounds assorted. We all love to shoot for fun. On a get together we'll go through 500 rounds easy, mostly .223 and 9mm.

Ammo? What do you mean? Of, that stuff you put in those evil guns? Oh heck, I don't have any ammo laying around. It is just wrong to keep such evil and nasty things. Those things jump up and run around looking for people to hurt. Didn't you know that? I threw it all away a coule years ago. Yep, that is what I did...threw it all away.

I keep what I can. Usually when I go to the gun store I buy some ammo just to fill what I have used.

Buy it cheap, stack it deep.

Even though I do reload, and keep a LOT of components on hand, back in the days of $79 per 1000 rounds, I just couldn't resist. $80 here, $150 there adds up. I have a case of Norinco steel core 7.62 that I paid in the area of $70 for. Still in the can.

For whatever reason, I always saw the price I paid as a value. I had a hard time reloading for that. I remember buying XM855 for less than $250 a case. Whenever I order anything from anyone, I add a quantity of 5.56 ammo. Be it 1 or 2 bandoliers at $70 etc, nowadays I buy a little here, and a little there. I've got the good stuff, and the "training use only".

It is foreign to me now that all my money was actually well spent.

I would shoot reloads or WWB from China Mart, but when I bought a case of milsurp, it would go into an ammo can in a closet for stockpiling. It worked out well.

I moved in October of 2005. Here is a picture I took of a load of ammo. The company vehicle at the time was a Dodge Caravan, and this was the limit I would carry due to how low it was riding, ammo gets heavy, so I had to make two trips. The plain boxes are double wall boxes we use and are full of WWB and PD ammo.

The moving company I used does not move ammo, but I put ammo cans in big boxes and labeled them "books" so they didn't know any better.

ETA: edited the size of the picture, I hate when a thread gets supersized like that.

alot, I started buying ammo instead of guns 2 years ago when I heard china was buying copper, and there were ammo shortages of some calibers, the price has doubled since.

my advice is to buy 22lr now before the correction, it is way under priced compared to everything but 7.62x54r corrosive, /i wish I would have got more 8mm a few years ago when it was .035/rnd

I guilty of being an ammo whore. Buying ammo is an addiction all on its own. I can't resist stopping at a Walmart and buying a box or two when I am within 1 mile of a store. Is this a good thing or not....... my mind says yes but my wallet says no. ;)
