So, now I have several firearms I am wanting to buy, but dont know which ones to buy first. Do you buy based on lowest price, highest priced, availability? Do you flip a coin?

How do you all do it?

I buy when the urge strikes me and I find a good deal!

Very few of my guns have I ever paid full value on them, and most I could easily sell for more than I paid for them.

Right now I am saveing to get me an M1 Garand as my next purchase.

I guess I'm weird. I buy based upon need.

For instance, my last, um, owner's manual that I obtained was a 20-gauge. I was tired of carrying a heavy 12-gauge in the field while dove hunting.

Prior to that, I purchased a second 12-gauge. I had just got into turkey hunting, and needed something that wouldn't reflect sunlight as much as my Winchester 1300, and something that was also a bit smaller and could take a 3-1/2 shell.

Prior to that, I wanted something that would be a true man-stopper to keep in my nightstand. So, a 44-magnum fit the bill.

And so on, and so on.

I once picked up a Lorcin L380 POS because I had, at the time, lived in a terrible neighborhood and I wanted something to keep under the driver's seat in my car. I needed something that would be there and that wouldn't bother me if it got stolen. The Lorcin was crap, but it fit the bill. If someone wanted to cause trouble, I'd have something to defend my life.

And, strangely enough, that Lorcin is the only gun I've ever parted ways with.

An absolutely great plan!

I avoided them for a long time - they always felt too heavy to me - but once I got
beyond that and started shooting my friend's M1s it was a different ball game,
altogether. We shoot ours fairly regularly! It's always a hit with folks at the range
and friends who appreciate a fine example of a genuine historic firearm!

I would have to say price this time. I am haggling with a couple of dealers on a Springfield Armory SOCOM 16. Got a price of $1525 from one. I have another dealer who say's he can beat that price and he will let me know by how much Monday.... :---

I will have to admit I have been an impulse buyer. I shop around and see something I like and buy it!

Since meeting my current wife, that life as I knew it is over! No more guns at my age without a lot of begging! Or the old, sell or trade something and then buy routine! Not really a problem because I have accumulated a few guns over the last 35 years and don't have a need for anything!

A3

Man Lee ... you going to take that from Debs!??

LOL ... some things in life are universals, aren't they!?

I probably feel the same way as you - I have so much
that there is no burning desire for anything, really.

I was poking around in my favorite gun store(s) the
other day - saw a lot - but nothing that I couldn't
live without!

I feel much like A3, but in addition to that, I always have a half dozen "want" firearms, that, if I find the right deal, I will buy.

In no particular order, they are(at the moment):

Beretta BM-59
'03 Springfield
Colt SAA in .38-40
1911 in .38 Super
CETME

I was thrilled when my best friend Father-in-Law gave me the Enfield Jungle Carbine a couple of months ago. It had been on my list for several years - since I traded off my last one.

You must admit that free is about as good a deal as one can get!!

I see something either here or in magazine that I like, it goes on my "Want Me" list which I prioritize every now and then. When I find the "deal" for the next gun on that list, I buy! ;)

Hey git_r_done, glad to see you posting here.
You just missed the order date (9 Sept) for the CMP M1 sale. Not to worry, there's another sale next Jan for Winchester M 1's. Go to
http://www.odcmp.com for details. The market on Winchesters is the highest right now so there is a big potential for savings.

Let's use our fingers!
...................................................

Mr. Thumb = A1 The Dougster.
Mr. Pointer = A2 The Zippster.
Mr. FU = A3 Mr. Sigsster (I think)
Ringo = A4 The Jimster or The Jimboster (same guy)

... and there's an opening for Mr. Pinky - the ALPHA MALE
who's destined to be A5.

I'm just not sure about A3 - I'll have to confer with A1 -
he seems to know what the hecks goin on (sometimes).

A3 is Sig, but I think at one point you referred to Gale as A3. Jimbo is A4, and:

"Subject: Appointment of new Alpha member - X1
Date: Fri, 07 Sep 2007 01:16:45 -0700

Duncan - after a thorough review of your background and qualifications, you have been admitted to the Order of the Alpha, with all the Rights and Privileges attendant thereto.

Your designation shall be X1.

Congratulations, and welcome to our Knightly Brotherhood.

Best regards,

A1 "

So, iceracerx is Duncan is X1.

Any questions ??

OK.

Let's see if I've got it - after a minor designation elaboration.

Mr. Thumb is A1 The Dougster.
Mr. Pointer is A2 The Zippster.
Mr. FU is A3 Mr. Sigsster - CONFIRMED!
Ringo = A4 The Jimster or The Jimboster

SO, there IS an opening for Mr. Pinky -
the ALPHA MALE who's destined to be A5.

ALSO, iceracerx is Duncan, who is designated a X1.

Now Gale was never a part of the 'A'ness (not to be confused
with the word 'anus' - she - as a completely qualified Woman
of The Order of The Gun, was designated by me as G1 (for the
Girl equivalent of whatever we are talking about - I'm beginning
to fade here).

SO,
simply it's:
A1
A2
A3
A4
X1
G1

Get it?
Got it?
Good!

A2
