The three teens allegedly approached the home and attempted to rob three people in the front yard, the sheriff's office said Monday night.

A neighbor told Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB that he heard gunfire around 4 a.m. Monday and ran outside to see what happened.
Who in the heck is in their front yard at 4am??? Something tells me there was illegal drugs involved.

They could have simply be leaving for work too. By that time I'm already at work.

If you heard gun shots at 4 a.m. would you "run outside to see what happened"? I know I wouldn't.
"Then I heard somebody have an assault rifle"

Ear witness to the shooting?

Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Deputy Lee Thomas posted on the department's Facebook that officers were called to a residence on White Oak Court in Conyers, Georgia. Deputies found three boys with gunshot wounds and began administering first aid. Two of the teens were taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead from their injuries, while one was pronounced dead at the shooting scene. They were later identified as juveniles from Conyers, Thomas said. The sheriff's office said the three were killed during a shoot-out with the resident on White Oak Court. Investigators say the three teens had their faces covered as they approached the residence and attempted to rob three people in the front yard, Thomas said. One of the attempted-robbery suspects fired shots at the residents before one of the intended robbery victims returned fire. Georgia law says, "A person who uses threats or force in accordance with Code Section 16-3-21, relating to the use of force in defense of self or others, Code Section 16-3-23, relating to the use of force in defense of a habitation, or Code Section 16-3-24, relating to the use of force in defense of property other than a habitation, has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and use force as provided in said Code sections, including deadly force." The victims of the attempted robbery were not hurt. I got this a few minutes ago on the Rockdale, Ga. site. Clears the water a bit. Even if the home owner is a druggie and the predators tried to rip him off. The shoot is still good according to the articles I've read. Ironically, this is the case it is the first time I ever rooted for a drug dealer.

The investigation is still active, and the Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with information in connection with the shootings to contact the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office at 770-278-8000 and speak with Investigator Dwayne Smith or Sgt. Jeremy Best.

It's not a stand-your-ground case. The left would love it to be stand-your-ground because they want to put three church-going, fixing-their-lives, black kids up as victims of stand-your-ground.

But this was pure self-defense. The thugs fired first. Stand-your-ground laws or not, a person has the right to defend themselves with deadly force against deadly force.

Deputies said a homeowner shot three teens who were wearing masks. Channel 2's Aaron Diamant learned two of the teens were brothers, 15 and 16 years old. A third was a 15-year-old boy.

[---]

Investigators say three people were at the home, including a woman, when the shooting happened.

The homeowner who shot the masked intruder is a man. Neighbors say he's a truck driver who owns a semi-automatic rifle and is highly protective of his mother.

Slanted biased BS articles like this is one of the reasons I seldom read a news paper or watch talking heads on the idiot box. This article reeks of agenda bias. I hope the shooter has sense enough to have retained a good civil attorney, or at least knows one.
"It could be a 'stand your ground' type case, based on the preliminary [information] that we have learned so far," Levett said during the briefing.
How could it be anything except a stand your ground case? That is obfuscation, and a muddying of the water. Any jury will find in the shooters favor.

The three teens allegedly approached the home and attempted to rob three people in the front yard, the sheriff's office said Monday night. One of the attempted robbery suspects purportedly brandished a handgun and fired shots at the residents before one returned fire. All three attempted robbery suspects were killed during the exchange, authorities said.
YAY!
4 am, 3 guys in the front yard. 3 guys approached wearing masks. Nice neighborhood! Any idea on their race/nationality?

Completely irrelevant.

YAY!
Because of the youths opened fire with a handgun and the homeowner respinded, it's not a stand-your-ground case at all. It's a cut and dry case of justifiable homicide in self-defense.

They were there handing out Watch Tower pamphlets, or selling Girl Scout Cookies. The problems the shooter faces is the slanted bias of the news and neighbor comments. Those two elements make me wonder about a collusion to create a Ghetto Lottery win for families of the predators. I knew an awful lot of good people when I lived in Atlanta. I also made a lot of money investigating insurance fraud cases. The civil case in Georgia it could go either way.

Types of Self-Defense Laws
Although some states use a blend of doctrines, self-defense laws generally fall into the following three categories:

  1. Stand Your Ground: No duty to retreat from the situation before resorting to deadly force; not limited to your home, place of work, etc.
  2. Castle Doctrine: No duty to retreat before using deadly force if you are in your home or yard (some states include place of work and occupied vehicles).
  3. Duty to Retreat: Duty to retreat from a threatening situation if you can do so with complete safety

It might be a Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground; and one reason those laws are on the books now, is because of unjust prosecutions.
You will find that there is no such thing as cut and dried, when you get to a trial. Prosecutors have put innocent people, on many occasions.

They were of the Thug kindred.

After watching the videos, I'd have to say, "It is a nice neighborhood". It seems they were 'city thugs' plying their trade in the county where the pickings were percieved to be fatter.
