If your honest on the forms you won't get hauled in. The worst that can happen is a denial on the purchase.
Hey guys. Noob question
Hey guys. I've wanted to learn to shoot for years now. I've got the pta filled out and ready to take to my sheriff's office. I am pretty sure I'll "pass," but I do have a minor drug charge and a simple assault (misdemeanor) from 9 and 8 years ago. Nothing else on my record.
Where it is a bit weird is that initially because the issue was with my sister, who I was living with, it was called a domestic assault. Either because it wasn't violent (Only yelling. Actually the only physical part was her pushing me) or for some other reason (apparently in my state if for any reason police are dispatched on a domestic issue someone HAS to go to jail) the judge later reduced(?) it to a "simple assault." I'm a bit nervous I won't be approved. I've read domestic issues can affect your allowance for guns.
Tldr: If you are deemed unable to purchase a gun for any reason, is the worst they can do deny you? They would just do the background checks and tell me no? Of course I'd disclose everything truthfully.

Where I come from it was always the Parent Teachers Association in all of the schools. Where he's from, I guess that it has something to do with guns. :wink5:
Yep. My sister was annoyed and we ended up yelling at each other and she called the police. Now I'm restricted in some of the jobs I can have for such a silly issue that happened a long time ago. Have knowingly lost out on several jobs because of it (and lost a Christian girlfriend).Just fill out honestly and all that will happen is a denial. Good Luck.
