Hello! In cleaning out my grandmothers house we came across what we believe is my great grandfathers old hunting rifle. I’m just curious if anyone has knowledge of what year it is. Did some research on the markings but I’m a bit confused.

I traced mine to the 40's. 1948 if i recall correctly.

I looked up some of the patents, some from early 40s I guess I don’t understand why there is 4 numbers also found info that there’s supposed to a marking in a small circle I believe it was like 2 letters or a letter and a number maybe. I found one with a C in it if that means anything
