Hello, I was just wonderimg if any one can help me understand NYC law. I am trying to build a Kar98k from parts and the reciever is the only part that needs to go thru a ffl member. I have a FFl guy, but I was still wondering if I can keep the reciver withen NYC borders?

Welcome to the forum.
it’s a bolt action rifle. Why wouldn’t you be allowed to keep it in the city if you have passed the background check required to receive the action from a FFL? Ask your gun store you’re buying or transferring from. They would know the city laws better than a bunch of guys on a national forum.

I am having trouble understanding why anyone is still living there.
I cannot see a problem with what you are trying to build, but it is NYC.
I would check with your local government commissars on that just to be safe.
Please, please, please, stop encouraging people to move away from NYC! 😱
We've seen too much evidence to prove they are not fit to live in the civilized world where conservative gun owners live. 🤗 Our space grows smaller as liberal gun haters move away from the cities.

On the same (but different) note, city folks move to the country, they can't deal with the smells of country life...manure spreading in fields, hog farms, cattle pastures, skunks...pretty soon they start complaining to the county and the county complains to the state and then laws are passed that makes farming ten times more expensive but the few city folks are now happy.

Look at hippyville, err, I mean Colorado... a western state, used to be the hub of rendezvous. Californicommis moved there and swung the state to the dark side. 😩

As they have done with NV, WA, OR, NM, and in the South parts of FL, SC, NC, VA

Res, try searching both the state code concerning firearms and the city code. It should be covered under a .gov domain for the state. Don't know how the city would be covered. Try this, it's not quick or easy, codelibrary.amlegal.com. I'm not sure if it's the right place but it might be a good starting place.

Honestly, I don’t know, this is a rather serious issue, and it is better to turn to more experienced specialists in this matter. From my personal experience, I can recommend a company of lawyers Condominium & HOA Law | Southwest Portland Law Group. To get started, sign up for a consultation with them, and they will answer any questions regarding the law, including New York. It is very important not to ask this question on the forums, because perhaps people know the picture in general, but I suppose you know how many pages the law has, and how many important details are present in it, which only specialists know.

Are you allowed to have rifles?

Welcome to the forum by the way.

You are more than welcome to move here to GA but only if you leave any voting for liberals habits behind. It aggravates me when people move here escaping restrictive laws and high taxes then continue to vote for the libtards and leftist that created the environment that they are escaping from.

It both amuses and anoys me when New Yorkers point out how great this and that was back in NYC the state they voluntarily left. How they hate this and that in the state they voluntarily moved to. Folks from Jersey don't seem as annoying. Still a little smug but hey...

Laws are designed to not be understandable.
High price lawyers wrote the laws and (maybe) will bill hourly to help guide you thru.
And / Or you can get caught up in the meatgrinder they camouflaged as a justice system.
