I shoot a 5 inch 1911 in 10mm. My go-to load is 11.0 gr. of AA#7 under a 180 gr. fmj. Im getting an avg. vel. of 1130 and a s.d. of 6. Ive tried all several other powders and find AA#7 to be the best for this cartridge.

I had been loading 10mm only for my 6 1/2" S&W Mod 610 and I experimented with all kinds of stuff, from 135 to 220 gr bullets in front of many different powders. I found the revolver really didn't care whether I used light or heavy, fast or slow. They all could be made to be accurate.

Now I will be loading for a Smith Mod 1006 which I just bought on one of the other fourms. I'm open to suggestions about where to start with an auto like that. What do y'all think?
