It will do absolutely nothing to protect the innocent from getting hurt. It will only deny more good people access to firearms in case of emergency as in death threats or stalking. No gun control on the books already has stopped one of all these mass shootings. They all passed background checks. They mostly bought their guns at federally-licensed dealers. Most guns in those incidents were not "assault weapons". Most had a capacity of no more than ten rounds. Red flag gun confiscation laws and extended background checks would never have stopped one of such shootings.

If the Republicans aren't careful about gun control, they will lose the next election, they will loose many constituents who put them in office on the promise of Second Amendment protections.

You are right about that! I have moved out of the Netherlands because of the restricting gun laws. These laws stood in the way selling all military type of weapons. In Holland they even dont know the difference between guns and trumpets! Go voting

If you don’t vote for republicans because of the votes they’ve made, then who are you going to vote for? Well, we will just have to replace some GOP incumbents (any that have been leaning anti-gun) with new Republicans where applicable. Ted Cruz, not Donald Trump, was my man in the last GOP primary anyway. I had to vote for Trump in the general.
