So after a little medical problem , I was forced to sell all my guns😭.so my question is now that I'm able to replace a couple , I'm curious as to thoughts on the best semiauto pistol , decent home defense shotgun and possibly a semiauto rifle, Things have changed and improved over the years so I thought maybe I could get a few recommendations. Thanks
There's no such thing as "best" of any of those. There will be as many opinions on this as there are members of this forum.

If I were building a minimal home defense suite on a budget, and considering that I wasn't planning on fighting zombies in the EOTWAWKI, here's what I'd do in each of those:

Handgun: S&W SD9 or SD40 series - though you can an M&P for $100 more.
Shotgun: I'd go with a Mossberg 590 or 500 - get a full stock, not the Shockwave short stock. Save the fancy toys for later. Maverick, owned by Mossberg, and RIA have shotguns in the 200 dollar range. Lots of people buy them but I wouldn't. Up to you.
Semi-auto rifle: Any of a million AR-15s. You could spend a year researching parts and brands and never get a clear preference. Ask your local gun store what they recommend from what they carry and that you can afford. Consider a pistol version or SBR (NFA rules apply) for home defense. You wouldn't want to have to swing a 24" target gun around in your bedroom or closet.

You didn't mention bolt or other action rifles. No need for any semi-auto for hunting though there are many good semi-auto options, even AR pattern rifles. Utah and Wyoming hunting (I've lived and hunted in both states) often requires long shots, not like the dense woods style hunting here in Oklahoma. You'll want a .308 or .30-06. The .308 has, by far, surpassed the 30-06 in love and availability. You can even consider an AR style .308 for hunting and longer-range defense.

Then there's .22LR semi-automatics. Also not in your question but everyone should have one. The Ruger 10/22 will be the most popular suggestion and a great one but I've owned a lot of Marlin 60s that have all performed flawlessly and for much less cost than a 10/22.

I forgot to mention: in guns, or many preparedness topics, 1=none, 2=1, 3=2. If you have one and it quits when you need it most, you have none. Get two of everything. Unless you want two, then get three.

And, of course, as you buy all those guns, as in most trading, it's important to hedge your trades. I usually have to hedge my gun trades with corresponding trades at Zales.
Thanks Levant, I didn't mention the bolt action as I know what I want for hunting😁. I was always a1911 fan and still lean that way, are platform as you said is almost impossible to get a concensus but I've heard Rock River is decent for the money. And the shotgun advice is very helpful . The way things are going I just thought it might be wise to start with the semiautos. Thanks for your input.
Point well taken😂😂😂

Short barrel shotgun - Remington 870. Look at agency trade-ins.
Hunting shotgun - There are a bunch of good ones. Pick the one that fits what you're hunting for.
Large caliber handgun - 1911/1911/A1. Most everyone and their dog makes one. Pick the one that fits your budget.
Small caliber handgun - CZ75.
CCW handgun - They're like shoes. Mine won't fit you.
SHTF semi-auto rifle - AR15. Most everyone and their dog makes one. Pick the one that fits your budget. Modify to suit yourself.

Hello and welcome.....

What did you have before you were forced to get rid of yours?
My EDC has been a 1911 since I got my permit 12 years ago. I actually went into the LGS to get a compact Taurus until the owner pointed out that the compact 1911 was only 1/4" larger than the Taurus. And I like steel in my guns.
1911 handgun in .45 acp
870 Remington (preferably 12 ga)
AR from S&W or Springfield Armory...but there are plenty of other good guns to choose from...mostly, I agree with Popeye

Good evening, I'm going to assume you like wide open spaces and not crowded city life. Put me down for a 12 ga pump.
