Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
Pamela Jane Carr allegedly tased her husband several times on Sunday morning after he told her that he was leaving.

The 68-year-old Clearwater, Florida, resident did not react well to husband Thomas Burke’s announcement that he was leaving her after nine years of marriage.

According to the arrest affidavit, during the escalating fight Carr “pulled out a Taser and dry stunned [Burke] several times.” And while Carr “admitted to Tasing her husband,” the document says, she “claims it was in self-defense.”

Despite her explanation, Carr was charged with aggravated domestic battery. She was released from the county jail on Sunday night, after posting a $1,000 bond.

She will not be permitted to contact her husband, nor to possess firearms or ammunition. A single visit — with law enforcement escort — will be permitted in order for her to retrieve belongings from their mobile home.

Speaking of tasers. I asked one of our LEOS. If i could use lethal force if i was being tased, He said no. Then i told him my cardiac history. He said in that case yes i can if i recover enough to use my gun.

I can’t figure out why he’d want to leave her. Obviously she’s a passionate woman. There’s a fire in her that’s rare in today’s women. I’d stay with her and slowly but deliberately abuse her without her realizing what was happening. Just the low level mind games. She’s a ripe target. I’d be afraid of telling her you’re leaving but you can torture her without her realizing it. I know I’m a sick ******* but who wants to get run over or shot next time?

I need to forward this to a buddy of mine. He just told his wife of 9 years he is leaving her and her name is Pamela! I don't think she owns a taser but i know they have quite a few guns some of which i may have to baby sit until he gets situated.

I believe you need to get a second opinion on this. The use of deadly force is authorized to prevent the imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury yourself or another. Like beauty it is in the eye of the beholder. Would a reasonable person perceive the threat to be imminent and serious enough to justify the use of deadly force?

In this day and age LEO'S are governed by insurance companies, and chickenshit politicians that would prefer to pay an officers death benefits than offend liberal anti police factions. The officers are hamstrung by ridiculous rules of engagement that are erroneously misinterpreted as law by many officers. You would not believe some of the misinformation nonsense I have heard in classrooms around the country. Which is why I always recommend that new CCW holders take lessons from NRA instructors, and NOT law enforcement agencies with departmental agendas. The NRA instructors are normally accompanied by a criminal defense attorney that is well versed in the state and federal laws.

If someone is going to or is tasing you what are they going to do after you are incapacitated? The tasing it self might not be life threatening(a certain amount of people do die from it though) but what happens after? Are you just going to be robbed? will you be beat to death so you can't testify? I would most certainly use deadly force against someone trying to do that to me. Whether it's legal or not i can't say but i would certainly assume my life was in danger.
