Is this for real? I have an SKS but really don't want to post about it on an unknown web site.

I did a reply but it didn't get posted.
My reply was about not wanting to get close to any weapon after having to sleep with my M1.

I guess this applies to Yugos only. My Russian SKS has the year stamped and highlited in white all over it including all parts with serial numbers. Kinda gawdy actually.

Mine is a Chi. Nerinco.
In 1990 when I bought it it was new still in the box.
Run the date thing and found out it was made in the mid 60's.
How the Hedoubleee does one stay new and where does it stay for that long?
At least it's not worn out, have fired only about 300 rds through it.

If that is a "supreme complement", I wouldn't want to see a bad one.
I may be sick but I am not a son-of -a- female dog.
Sorry you couldn't take a "damn" joke.

Well, ya just never know. Some people are more sensitive than the group of maniacs I'm used to hanging with. I certainly didn't intend to offend.

Nice Harrington & Richardson Garand. Low SN, too.

*Brag* Mine is 466392X. Proper and correct. Also have the first replacement stock for it.

as an aside
It seems that some folks get upset over the littlest things.

Popeye, Nice catch on that early HRA - SA op rod?
(Brag) I've got two of them, both original and DCM:

Yup, SA op rod. I am told that it is the 26th lowest SN extant. It looks as if it spent its entire life, pre me, in a National Guard armory.

Also have a Dane with a Danish marked six-groove barrel.

For what it's worth, I'll not post any more bent-up jokes.
That way I'll not be hurting myself. :---

Popeye,
You've got a real keeper. I've seen several hundred M1 Garands over the past several years (I work gunshows for a dealer who specializes in them) and from what I've seen and read and heard, the HRAs are the BEST of the bunch with regard to fit, finish and function. Your low number piece is an excellent addition to my mental data base - thanks.
I've also seen a couple dozen Berettas and Bredas and a few Danish market rifles - your barrel is probably a VAR - which are reputed to be amongst, if not THE, more accurate production barrels. Italian and Danish rifles are not selling recently, like they were about 2 to 3 years ago and the prices have suffered. Surprisingly enough, the HRAs seemed to have spiked in price last year. Seems most people are looking for Winchester and IHC pieces right now. An all original, collector grade IHC will start around 2 grand. An all original WRA, with cartouched stock, starts around 3 grand.
We HRA collectors (I've got another one in the 5.7 million range that looks brand new - been on the table for 6 months with no takers at $1300) will just have to stick together.

Loadit,
There was nothing wrong with your joke - about sleeping with your M1- I thought it was hilarious and well written for effect.
The site filter changed my reply to remove the word "b.tch" - that kind of skewed the meaning.
NO OFFENSE MEANT - I, truly, was complimenting your style.
