“You’re going to not even realize when you touch something then you have it on the gloves, then you transfer it to your face, then you can get infected," he explained.

So I wear gloves so I can throw them away when I leave the store so any virus I picked up go in the trash. But he thinks I'm going to be touching my face with my possibly contaminated gloves on? What kind of idiot is he, or what kind of idiot does he think I am?

Just remember that the items IN the bag could be contaminated or that the bags themselves could be contaminated; so wash those things and then your hands after handling.

Just ordered masks and hand sanitizer from Amazon. Think they are the only ones with that stuff. What a world we are in.

I went into a local small grocery store yesterday. There was only one other couple in the store. They were wearing gloves. I wiped down the cart I had with sanitizer before I went in. I picked what I could and after checking out and loading the stuff into my truck, I sanitized my hands again. I got home and my wife made me take off my clothes ( this could have gone ether way ) and put them in the washer and take a shower. She washed ALL of the food, from the plums to the bread in a mild bleach solution before I could put them away.

Pretty extreme. I have a lot of faith in my immune system, I never get sick. I attribute it to my poor hygiene! Never been afraid of germs and such. This might be different, but my immune system will put up a hell of a fight if it comes my way.

Not extreme at all.
This potentially deadly virus isn't in your house. It's brought in.
You are doing yourself a disservice by not taking it seriously and taking steps to mitigate it.
I don't want myself or anyone in my house (or any of my NGF friends) to end up dead or on a ventilator.
Cant stress enough, This isn't to be taken lightly, its NOT just the flu.

Parking lots all over the country are littered with used latex gloves.

It's a shame and there is absolutely no reason for it. Just about every retailer has trashcans out front of their stores.
My local supermarket has them on every cart corral throughout the parking lot.

No need for latex. Any gloves keep the virus off your skin and should remind you not to touch your face. Cotton gardening gloves are fine. Get home, unpack, wash all exposed food items, throw gloves in drier on high heat for 15 mins. Re-use.

The same can be done with home-made cotton masks. They may not have the seal of an N95 mask but they are better than no mask.
